WHO WE ARE

Everything we do is rooted in the energy of the club culture and its ability to bring people together. Open dancefloors; where music, ideas and people meet.

Boiler Room started with a webcam taped to a wall, broadcasting from a warehouse in London, opening a keyhole to the city's underground. DIY at it's finest; raw uncut and homemade.

As an independent music platform and cultural curator, we remain true to that history. Connecting club culture to the wider world, on screen and irl through parties, film and video.

Since 2010 we have built a unique archive featuring over 4,000 performances by more than 5,000 artists spanning 150 cities, enabling everyone regardless of where they live to enjoy the freedom it stands for.

YOUR ROLE

Your role will be to create design for all of Boiler Room's visual output. You will need to work closely with our Art Director and the wider creative team to produce a high volume of work, of varying styles, and to a consistently high quality. This is a great opportunity for a designer starting in their career - We want you to grow individually with the guidance from the wider team in this role that should shure up the fundamentals of your design practice.


MAIN DUTIES

  • Design for projects across all Boiler Room channels
  • Collaborate with our Art Director and wider design team and act as a custodian of the Boiler Room brand, ensuring all creative output adheres to the Boiler Room tone of voice and supports in building our public perception
  • Deliver innovative solutions design, within the Boiler Room style guide
  • Work with the Apparel team to develop graphic pack, branding, packaging and sales assets
  • Contribute to the development of the Boiler Room visual brand
  • Support the art director to create commercial assets to support compelling pitch decks for the commercial team

EXPECTATIONS (specific to your role)

You will need to work closely with our Art Director and the wider creative team to produce a high volume of work, of different styles, and to a consistently high quality. We're looking for a genuine team player who will go above and beyond to develop world class design.

  • An advanced understanding of contemporary design aesthetics in the areas of music, art, fashion and pop culture
  • Must be confident in designing and delivering presentations to a professional standard
  • Ability to create future proof design systems that can adapt to our ever evolving, long running campaigns
  • An understanding of the commercial design world, brand work and working with stakeholders
  • An understanding of design studio structure showing the ability to work with the studio manager and other senior members of the team
  • An eye for detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • An understanding of foundational design principles
  • An ability to properly manage files within our back end system as well as working files for use by third party designers
  • The ability to support a team of designers and senior creatives, taking on existing work, keeping output on brief and delivering it to a high standard
  • Experience of formal graphic design, layouts, use of type, print, deck design, identity
  • Experience of conceptualising and designing campaigns, from initial ideas to implementation across a variety of media
  • A positive attitude towards feedback
  • An understanding of the Boiler Room brand
  • An ability to liaise directly with stakeholders to create outstanding solutions
  • Promote team motivation and creativity
  • Interpret feedback into actionable amends & clearly communicate this with team members in a timely, positive manner
  • Self-organised with great attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a must
  • A working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Cinema 4D would be a bonus

SKILLS

  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written English
  • Excellent computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Word & Excel and Google Drive
  • Present and discuss ideas clearly, and to help translate concepts to the wider team in a detailed and methodical manner
  • Ability to work autonomously and with initiative

KNOWLEDGE

  • Be an expert in your field
  • Demonstrate an understanding of best practices in your field
  • Demonstrate an understanding of latest industry standard including;
    • trends
    • tools and software
    • appropriate national and international standards
  • Be open to training and development

ATTITUDE

    • Be a brand ambassador for Boiler Room; ensuring everything you do at Boiler Room is in line with our manifesto and vision
    • Be open to feedback from your team to benefit personal/project development and learning
  • To promote teamwork and to ensure effective working relations and communication across the whole company
