Department Overview
The Pfizer Internal Medicine business unit brings medicines to patients who suffer from common medical conditions impacting large populations. The portfolio includes medicines in development as well as those that are already available for patients, with therapy areas extending from migraine to anticoagulation.
The Medical Affairs team supports educational and scientific activities that bring improvements to the lives of patients. Medical Affairs provides information on our medicines and collaborates with leaders in the field to generate new research and educational initiatives. Medical has a critical role in comprehending the clinical landscape, sharing insights within the organisation to shape our development programmes and ensure the medicines we develop meet the needs of healthcare professionals and patients, fulfilling the company’s dedication to bring ‘Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives’.
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
You will have the opportunity to work with and assist the medical team on various projects aimed at educating and empowering healthcare professionals to deliver better care for people with migraine.
This placement will be aligned to the neurology medical affairs team within internal medicine. Specific accountabilities will include development of omnichannel resources for migraine education as well as analysing and reporting trends from our migraine insights from key opinion leaders to the team. The successful candidate will help create medical migraine congress resources and work on projects aimed at improving access and equity of migraine care in the UK.
Other tasks will include:

Involvement in medical team projects within internal medicine, working with other cross-functional teams when appropriate. This will include planning and delivering innovative educational projects for both internal and external stakeholders.

Helping the medical team to stay abreast of relevant published literature and developments within internal medicine by reviewing and summarising key information.

Provide ideas and input into the delivery of digital health solutions to promote the evolving role of Medical Affairs

Assist the Medical team with key projects and deliverables aligned with the medical operating plans, such as advisory boards with healthcare professionals and patients, design, and execution of real-world data studies to promote the safe and effective use of our medicines

Planning and implementing external stakeholder engagement plans to enable us to comprehend the clinical landscape in new therapeutic areas
You will develop a multitude of skills including:

Organisational and project management skills through working on a variety of projects/ taking ownership of projects that align with the medical strategy.

Presentation skills by discussing your work at meetings

It is also a fantastic way to obtain a better understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the types of roles it has to offer.

For instance, this may involve collaborating with other trainees and colleagues in various projects. When can I start?
Placements will start on 2nd September 2024 and will run for 12 months.

Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year

On target for a Degree Classification in a health or science related field

Able and self-assured to challenge the status quo

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Ability to use initiative and work effectively in a team environment

Strong Maths and English skills

Self-assurance to liaise with Pfizer personnel at all levels
