Job Description

As a graduate at Equinor, you’ll be joining 21,000 colleagues delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. The position

Equinor’s drilling & well (D&W) network consists of 1,200+ dedicated professionals worldwide. As a graduate in D&W you will step into a role with early responsibility and play an important part in planning drilling and completion operations, well interventions and subsea activities.

Drilling and Well department takes on a global role in managing D&W operations. Our teams oversee around 40 daily operations carried out from our platforms, rigs and vessels.

Our work plays a significant role across all areas of our strategy, from enabling safer and more efficient production to reducing the CO2 emissions from our oil and gas outputs and delivering wells for our carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.


When joining our team in Drilling & Well you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with Equinor's multi-disciplinary team, including geologists, geophysicists, and engineers, to meticulously plan drilling and completion activities for various well planning phases.
  • Prepare comprehensive drilling programs that outline the necessary steps for successful operations.
  • Develop detailed operational procedures that ensure efficient and safe execution of drilling activities.
  • Take part in general well-related meetings focused on capturing lessons learned, follow-up of performance and cost, risk analysis, detailed procedures, etc.
  • Provide real-time support to the Operations Centre team when/if actively monitoring and overseeing daily drilling operations.
  • Compile reports as required by Equinor governing documentations and local requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement process on safety, performance and cost.
  • Conduct rigorous risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards and ensure operational integrity.
  • Serve as technical representative towards drilling and completion contracts.
  • Gain hands-on experience by participating in offshore trips to observe drilling operations first-hand.

Working in the field of drilling and well requires a combination of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in well planning, operational procedures, and risk assessment is essential to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations, as well as keen attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Master’s degree or PhD with good academic record within Petroleum Technology, Subsea Technology, Marine and Offshore Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Cybernetics, Data Science, Industrial Economics or other relevant engineering degrees.
  • Completed degree by the year of starting (2024).
  • No more than three years of relevant fulltime work experience.
  • Formal experience is not a requirement.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Extracurricular activities and/or voluntary work is an advantage.
