Job summary

Ofsted are partnering with Makers to offer a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Software Development.

A Level 4 Software Development Apprenticeship is the equivalent to a Higher National Certificate level qualification and allows you to 'learn and earn' from day one. You don't need any prior experience in coding (although we are keen to hear from people with all levels of experience) as we will teach you all the fundamentals via Makers renowned coding bootcamp at the start of your position.

So, whatever your starting point, after the bootcamp you will come to Ofsted knowing the basics. The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) team at Ofsted develops and operates tools and services that support our inspection and regulation activities, with our goal of raising standards and improving lives. We are a busy team of around 120 specialists covering everything from development, user research, data, engineering, architecture, security, business analysis, design, content to product and delivery. It’s a great place to learn about aspects of all the disciplines involved in delivering great digital services for citizens. You’ll be working in a dynamic organisation with great digital and technology ambitions, and an organisation that embraces innovation and cloud-based technologies. We will make sure that you are able to continue to develop your skills and talents, receive support from energetic communities of practice and our overall benefits package is generous. You'll have the space to develop, test and deploy your code, as well as working alongside front-line inspection and regulation staff to deliver for them. Alongside your salary of £32,804, Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills contributes £8,857 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.

Ofsted operates a hybrid working approach, allowing colleagues to benefit from time in the office, with the flexibility also to work from home.
