Job Title Summer Intern Software Engineer

Location Broad Oak (Hampshire)

BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Summer Intern Programme you will be required to attend your site 3-5 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

Salary £22,000 Pro Rata

Join our Maritime Services Team to become part of the only provider of complex warships, while providing the Royal Navy with its most advanced and powerful attack Warships. Our end to end Maritime Services range from warship availability, equipment and facilities management to training, product development and through life support for radar, torpedoes and small boats – Every Role Makes a Difference, You will make a difference.

What you will be doing
As a summer intern, over 12 weeks, you will work closely with the Under Water Weapons team to undertake a range of software engineering activities in order to gain knowledge and experience in the application of software engineering techniques, practices and approaches as part of software team within the Product & Training Services area of BAE Systems Maritime Services.

We also provide the opportunity to get involved in projects outside of your primary remit. We encourage you to seek a stretch project in which you’ll gain different experiences. Specific Activities may include:
  • Produce and maintain a software design to meet a set of software requirements.
  • Use a software design to produce a deliverable software solution.
  • Test a software solution to prove that is meets its design aims and requirements.
  • Maintain a software solution to address reported defects and/or add new functionality.
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of Maritime Services software related processes.
  • Gain and apply knowledge, skills and experience under close technical and managerial control.

Skills

As a minimum requirement you`ll need to be on course for achieving a 2:2 in a Bachlors Degree in Computer Science or other relevant Engineering or Numerate subject (technology, engineering or science related discipline).
To be considered for this role you must be returning to University to complete your degree.

Qualification requirements
