Team / division overview :

The DWS UK Finance activities include UK entity reporting, financial control and analytics, including specific focus on business area performance – such as the various Alternative Fund products and European ETF platform. They deliver a number of key financial outputs for DWS covering internal management and external regulators and also provide oversight, working collaboratively with the wider team in Manila.

The candidate will work closely with other UK DWS finance team members who support business areas and functions as well as specialists, ie tax advisory. The primary responsibilities of the role will be to help manage the monthly reporting process, lead on statutory audit work and provide support to the UK CFO. The candidate will be required to be flexible, proactive, self disciplined with strong communication skills in order to build good working relationships both within finance and across the wider UK franchise.

DWS’ Hybrid Working model in the UK is designed to find the right balance between in-person collaboration and engagement in the office, which is core to our working culture, and working from home. Employees who wish to sign-up to our Hybrid Working model are required to work in the office two days a week, and given the flexibility to work from home for the remaining three.

Some business groups may need you to spend more time in the office, but this will be discussed and made clear as part of your application and interview process. As a Finance Manager your responsibilities will be:

  • Onshore Validation and Control of legal entity Financials, Balance Sheet Substantiation including specific Fund structures.
  • Ad-hoc investigation into current topics such as cost investigation, cash flow management and transfer pricing plus project work including new SAP platform roll-out.
  • Supporting the Offshore team in particular with regard to topical accounting issues
  • Supporting UK CFO and DWS Treasury on capital and liquidity developments linked to business activity.
  • Supporting with the production and review of the quarterly FCA returns for the UK entities and submit via reg data.
  • Support with producing the monthly Board Risk Committee capital metrics.
  • Supporting the end-to-end production of the annual financial statements ensuring compliant with FRS 101 and IFRS.
  • Supporting the annual audit of the financial statements from planning to final publication including leading on smaller UK entities.
  • Supporting the wider business with implementing any new financial reporting systems from the initial design, planning, testing and implementation stages.
  • Reviewing the off shore team’s month end close and refining the commentary and present it at the month finance forum.
  • Improving current manual processes and create a robust control environment including creating detailed process notes (per FCO guidelines).

Your skills and experience:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working within a financial role that requires analysis at a micro and macro level
  • IFRS / UK GAAP
  • Stakeholder management
  • Understanding of Transfer pricing rationale
  • Experience of PL production and drivers
