Job Description

King Edward VI Academy is now recruiting for a General Site Support Officer. This role will complement our very successful site and canteen team.

About the role


  • To provide an effective caretaking service, to assist the Site team in all aspects of school caretaking, maintenance, cleaning and security (including locking and unlocking of the school where required)
  • Supervising students during the lunch break and to sustain the welfare and safety of students, as directed. Organisation of the entry of the students into the dining room/hall.
  • To set up the dining area and keeping the tables clean and clear of mess.
  • To be the main relief canteen cover for absences which will include taking primary meals where applicable.
  • Act in accordance with School policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection and behaviour management.
  • To provide positive and firm control by implementing the school discipline/behaviour policy.
  • Attend relevant INSET staff training sessions and other ad-hoc meetings.
  • Supervise students in designated areas of the school.
  • To be trained in first aid and be a member of the first aid team


Permanent, term time role 20 hours a week (39 WEEKS)

The academy opened in September 2012 and is sponsored by the David Ross Education Trust. It is a smaller than average secondary school with 470 students currently on roll in key stages 3 and 4 and 40 students in our satellite sixth form. We have a PAN of 90.

The academy is currently attracting students from a wide catchment area from Skegness, the surrounding area and as far as Boston, Alford and Louth.

The proportion of students who are disadvantaged (37%) and the proportion of students with SEND (28%) is above the national average. The proportion of students with an education, health and care plan is below average (3%).

Who we are looking for

We require a key addition to our site / catering team who is:

  • Able to communicate clearly, understand and follow instructions.
  • Experience of undertaking general cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Experience of undertaking general food handling/cleaning duties.
  • Ability to have a flexible approach to hours and undertake all training requirements.
