Job description

  • As a Business Analyst you will play a key role in developing new end to end business design solutions and improving existing business processes to shape the future for our people and customers.
  • You will be working as part of a team on key delivery areas for RPA and DEFRA and will be heavily involved in any of the following areas of responsibility for the department: Supporting Agricultural Transition, Future Farming, Countryside Stewardship, and other strategic business initiatives.
  • The role will involve personal involvement in projects and approved business transformation initiatives, where you will take a role in understanding deliverables and planning to deliver the solutions within agreed timescales. This will be carried out through application of the design lifecycle, defining requirements, ownership of design products and a lead role in investigating and proposing robust solutions for business development and improvement.
  • You will collaborate and work with people at all levels across RPA and DEFRA. You will provide Design support to many teams including Test Assurance where we provide input into developing test scenarios and witness testing, the communications team with customer products along with a wider remit for communication.
  • There may also be an opportunity to manage and support a small team of EO Designers as well as working closely with other BAs and our Model Office Team, who undertake Business Readiness Testing and Train the Trainer sessions as part of the implementation approach.

Person specification

This job provides an exciting development opportunity for enthusiastic individuals with the right aptitude, who will either hold or be willing to be trained in the full range of business analysis skills involving a combination of:

  • Employ a range of tools and techniques to gather and develop High Level and detailed business/user requirements, including user stories (where appropriate) against the clear objectives articulated for the project/change.
  • Evaluate requirements against the present state ‘As Is’ & the target state, ‘To Be’ and identify opportunities to develop successful business requirements needed to make the transition.
  • Ensure business needs and solutions are delivered to recognised methodologies. Considering fraud and quality in all new/updated processes.
  • Engage with policy and strategy to ensure business systems, workflows and processes contribute to target operating model.
  • Manage and support a small team of EO designers as well as working closely with other Business Analysts, our Model Office Team who undertake Business Readiness Testing and Train the Trainer sessions as part of the implementation approach.
  • Early impacting of change proposals, working closely with the business and the change gateway.
  • Assist with the application of Methodologies following the Business Transformation Design Framework.
  • Carry out gap and impact analysis, review, documentation and maintenance of business activities, processes and associated procedures.
  • Supporting the testing of proposed solutions including input to the full range of test scenarios and witness testing before acceptance for implementation.
  • Working with the Core Solutions Team to resolve configuration issues and to support the business impact of defects which may arise during testing.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with operations, project managers and stakeholders, subject matter experts and sponsors attributed to the project and/or change.
  • Supporting business as usual change activity, identifying issues and solutions, engaging with subject matter experts and implementation teams, and leading this change to an effective conclusion.
  • You will have or be able to quickly build knowledge of how RPA’s core processes and IT systems operate.

Throughout the above activities the Business Analyst will be recognising and working with the right people to help manage successful business change and outcomes. The job holder will be accountable to a senior Business Analyst within the Business Transformation Team.

Experience of leading a change through to a successful conclusion applying either business and service design methodology and techniques or evidence of transferable business experience attributable to the business analysis role

Sift

Interview

If successful at application stage, you will be invited to interview where you will be assessed on Behaviours and Strengths. Location

Please be aware that this role(s) will be contractually based in a RPA group workplace/office. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location, and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.

Salary

New entrants are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band.
