Penguin Random House seeks a dynamic sales strategist to form an integral part of our senior team and play a key role in how we manage and grow our sales across European territories.
We’re looking for someone with a proven commercial track record and impact, who is able to build excellent relationships with our internal and external partners and spearhead our growth in this key market.
This position, Head of European Sales, reports to the Group International Sales Director, and will be working directly with our European sales teams (based both in the UK and in market).
International Sales overview at Penguin Random House
The International markets are currently the fastest growing area for PRH UK’s publishing. Following a record year in 2022, we’re aiming to continue this upward trend as our business becomes increasingly more global in both content and reach. Penguin is the go-to brand for English language readers around the world, and our goal is to stretch that opportunity as far as possible. You’ll be working within a team of 50 people, based predominantly in the UK, and will need to be adept at building strong relationships across a very collaborative group of people.
The Opportunity
Play a key role in in shaping the future of this key growth region, working alongside our European Sales Directors.
Drive retail ownership across European customers, proactively putting together and implementing promotions across PRH titles.
Collaborate with the divisions at a senior level to prioritise Europe as a key market for them to support in their acquiring and publishing.
Identify key authors and brands and put specific growth plans in place.
Become a trusted partner within the publishing divisions, working closely with the publishing, marketing & publicity teams across all aspects of the business, and challenging where appropriate.
Work within the International Sales senior team to help maximise PRH UK’s International growth.
Be the key stakeholder for Children’s publishing across Europe, both out to market and into the division.
Show great leadership by championing an inclusive team and supporting growth and development for all colleagues.
Keys skills and experience
Confident and persuasive communicator, who is also an excellent listener.
Strategic and innovative, with a creative and segmented approach to driving sales across the full breadth of the European market.
Proven experience of negotiation, always working alongside our expert sales team to augment our excellent retail relationships.
A good depth of online knowledge and experience is preferred.
Proven experience of negotiation and managing retail relationships.
An ability to work collaboratively across all markets to help the region as a whole, deliver on an ambitious sales budget.
Passionate about the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of PRH and ready to express clear opinions and challenge the status-quo.
