The opportunity


You will be working in a small, agile analytics team within Global Markets – Operations & Enablement team; we work with EY’s global leadership to ensure that the best data and analytics-driven insights are used at scale in decision-making across the firm.


Within the analytics team, you will be the Analytics Delivery Lead, responsible for the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of the analytical tools that we offer internally across our 300,000 strong and growing organisation. You will manage these tools ensuring that key delivery milestones data refreshes and transformations stay on track and in line with business priorities, ensuring the highest levels of quality in their outputs, and respond to any business needs or changes that have a bearing on these tools.


Alongside delivering best in analysis across EY, you will be required to work closely with other team members such as our Data Science and Technical Leads collaborating on how we can sophisticate and evolve our existing set of analysis so it remains best in class and use your experience in efficiently delivering productionised analytics to influence how new or future developments should be shaped in the team and link with the existing tools that you will be managing.


Your key responsibilities


As Analytics Delivery Lead, you will ensure that the analytics team is productionising our portfolio of analyses in the best possible way to maximise the value our team can provide for EY. This will include reviewing how our existing solutions are delivered and proposing alternative approaches where beneficial, as well as working to provide streamlining and automation of existing data pipelines and processes.


In this key role, you will contribute to a wide range of analytics projects across the team, such as.:

  • Automating reporting outputs
  • String matching algorithms
  • Data hygiene and imputation processes
  • Account segmentation
  • Predictive analysis on growth opportunities
  • Return on investment analysis on key initiatives
  • Recommendation systems
  • Performance analysis


Across your responsibilities within the team you will be required to:

  • Identify pain points in our existing data pipelines and be able to devise solutions to these
  • Use your knowledge of database design to effectively structure schemas that progress what is possible in terms of the scale of our analysis
  • Think strategically about how the diverse set of analysis we offer in our team should link together for greater synergy, forming and working towards a long-term vision for this
  • Gather and respond to requirements from key business stakeholders as well as providing live demos of these tools to business users to show the value that they can be achieved
  • Develop innovative solutions to the stakeholder requirements, challenging the status quo when required to impact how the business operates
  • Create and lead global project teams across our onshore and offshore teams and other stakeholders to deliver commercial and business-oriented solutions
  • Provide technical direction across the project phases, running review sessions and/or pair-programming with other team members to ensure high quality outputs are delivered


You will also coach and mentor junior colleagues and peers in their technical development through hosting training sessions and informal knowledge sharing.


Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have:


  • At least 7-10 years of experience within relevant analytical roles
  • Very strong experience using SQL to manage and manipulate data for analysis as well as coach and validate others work within SQL
  • Experience in at least one data visualization application e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing complex analytical pipelines
  • An advanced understanding of how to efficiently store/structure data (i.e., schema types and when to use them, versioning, data redundancy etc), extract and interrogate data and have experience of transformation projects in this domain
  • Experience identifying use cases for automation and designing & implementing automated solutions, ideally in the production of data-driven reporting
  • Experience of implementing processes for quality assurance in order to systematically ensure high quality outputs across a team
  • Experience in at least one version control system, preferably Git
  • Experience of working with and effectively communicating with non technical stakeholders
  • A strong academic record, ideally with a degree in a technical subject


Preferably, you’ll also have some of the following:


  • At least a working understanding of the benefits and limitations of a range of statistical and analytical methods (regression and classification methods, recommendation engines, etc.)
  • Meaningful hands on experience in either Python or R
  • Experience or knowledge of at least one AGILE way of working (i.e., scrum/Kanban)
