BSL Support Worker

Job Title: BSL Support Worker x2 (Ideally 1 female due to client needs)

Contract: Part & Full Time (Degree of flexibility)

Salary: £19,240 per annum full time

Location: West Bromwich and surrounding area.

About the role:

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Support Workers to provide high-quality support services to people with hearing disabilities and complex needs in the Black Country Sandwell area to overcome barriers in accessing statutory services such as the bank, NHS, Benefits etc.

You will support people with their day to day life, to learn new skills and develop confidence and independence and have a good quality of life. The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people you will support are individuals and they all deserve to be treated as such.

Duties may include supporting and empowering people to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support people's health and wellbeing such as arts and crafts, drama, musical evenings, enabling people to be involved in household tasks, shopping trips, cooking, as well as supporting people on social occasions.

About you:

Do you have the enthusiasm and positivity to actively support people to achieve their outcomes supporting them to live a good and meaningful life?

One day you could be supporting a person to reminisce through art utilising your skills of patience, empathy, and creativity. The next day may bring an exciting outdoor activity to help a person access the community, meet others and get fit through football, bike riding, gardening or bowling.

Can you see yourself supporting a hearing impaired person to develop an awareness of different times techs enabling them to have more control over their day? Another day you could be helping people cook healthy meals from scratch helping them to succeed with their goals to develop cooking skills.

All posts will involve working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will be provided with comprehensive training and be supported every step of the way to develop your career with us.

The charity supports people who are known to present behaviours of concern by using the Positive Behaviour support model because PBS puts the person first. Existing knowledge/experience in following the PBS approach would be beneficial but not essential as you will be provided with extensive training. A shared value of understanding and supporting a person's behaviour and finding ways to work with them to improve this is essential.

We very much welcome previous experience working as: Support Worker, Home Carer, Care Worker, Health Care Assistant, Support Worker, Nurses, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant, Mental Health Care Worker, Voluntary Worker or CODAs
