Job Title: People and Culture Advisor

Service: People and Culture – Central Services

Reports to: People and Culture Business Partner

Direct Reports: N/A

Location: Head Office- Islington, London, N1

Hours/Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours a week/Hybrid Working with a minimum 1 day in the

office

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into the People and Culture Business Partner, the People and Culture Advisor will provide high quality generalist HR advice to managers and colleagues on a wide range of topics including contract reviews, performance management, absence, disciplinaries and grievance issues and ensure people operations, systems, analytics, and reporting are being delivered effectively.

Utilising your breadth of knowledge of people matters within the workplace, the Advisor will deliver an exceptional advisory and people support service across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor on a wide range on people processes, policies and systems-related issues and provide excellent people solutions, while establishing and maintain effective working relationships across the Group.

You will have demonstrable experience working in a similar HR advisory level, working with staff across all levels giving generalist HR advice, as well as advising on areas within employment law. With exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, you’ll be comfortable with a range of HR systems and processes, acting as one of our super users, and will able to work independently and collaboratively to deliver against deadlines within a busy People and Culture team.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a confident, friendly HR professional, who is able to use their initiative to work both independently and as part of a team. You will have already had experience working at an advisory level and will be confident in delivering advice and support in line with employment law and SIG Policies and Procedures.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of key HR processes including recruitment, onboarding and payroll and will support the rest of the team as required with these processes.

This role is currently vacant within a newly established team and structure, so this is a great opportunity for the post holder to develop the role, lead on projects, and create a long-lasting positive impact within the People and Culture Team.

Qualifications and Experience Rating

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, which sufficiently demonstrate Essential the numeric and written skills required or professional equivalent

CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional experience Desirable

Experience working in a similar HR role at advisory level covering Essential the full spectrum of HR disciplines

Sound knowledge and proven track record in all core aspects of HR Essential management, including performance management, absence management, disciplinary and grievance processes

Experience of advising on employment relations and employment Essential law

Experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information Essential

Working knowledge of HR databases and payroll process Essential

Working knowledge and understanding of HR procedures and basic Essential employment law practices and how it applies under UK employment legislation

Experience of using Cascade HR Desirable

Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability Essential to work comfortably with senior colleagues

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and Essential

PowerPoint and general IT proficiency
