Deloitte drives progress. Using our vast range of expertise, that covers audit, risk advisory, and consulting services across tax, legal, business, technology and corporate finance, we help our clients become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people. We build teams of future thinkers, with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them all to reach for and achieve more.
What brings us all together at Deloitte? It’s how we approach the thousands of decisions we make every day. How we behave, our beliefs and our attitudes. In other words: our values. Whatever we do, wherever we are in the world, we lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, and collaborate for measurable impact. These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.

IP is at the heart of Deloitte Legal's strategy and our team advises clients on the full range of IP rights, covering disputes, transactions and general advisory work. We also have an in-house trade mark filing and prosecution team. We link up with Deloitte colleagues in other teams including IP Advisory (non-lawyer IP consultants) and IP tax specialists to provide a holistic end-to-end solution to our clients’ management of their intangible assets. In addition, we work on a variety of unique and interesting projects run by other parts of Deloitte (Consulting, Risk Advisory, Financial Advisory and Tax) which require IP input.
We also prioritise and invest in technology and innovation, to deliver high-quality advice as effectively and efficiently as possible, for both our clients and Deloitte people. This includes “Dupe Killer”, a machine learning tool that detects and categorises design and other IP infringements, which helps several retail and luxury brand owners to preserve the value and prestige of their brands and products.
We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.
Our IP team sits within the wider IP & Disputes team (6 partners and 36 fee earners in total, with the IP team comprising 4 partners and 20 other fee earners). The team works for many household-name clients as well as fast-growing companies and creatives, and is recognised, collectively and individually at partner and non-partner level, in the main legal directories.
We are looking for an IP lawyer at the 2-4 pqe level, with a background at a City firm or equivalent. The candidate will ideally have experience of both contentious and non-contentious IP including trade mark and patent matters. Experience of dealing with objections and oppositions to trade mark applications and patent advisory work such as freedom to operate projects will be beneficial.
This is an opportunity for a lawyer with the right mix of attitude, vision, experience, skills and drive to help us to achieve Deloitte Legal's ambitious aims over the coming years. We particularly look for traits such as curiosity, energy and drive, adaptability, team-orientation and a genuine interest in our work.
The role focuses on developing and honing your professional skills and delivering high quality legal advice and matter management. As you develop your skills and experience, you will increasingly focus on helping to define propositions, winning work and becoming a trusted legal advisor to clients.
The development of new technology, tools and client propositions is an important part of our work. Our team conceived, built and launched the AI “Duper Killer” IP infringement tool, (patent pending) and we have more plans in the pipeline.

Personal independence
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.

“Our ability to seamlessly integrate legal services into broader solutions offered by Deloitte is a differentiator as compared to traditional law firms. Deloitte also has some impressive proprietary technology which we can use to streamline/improve the delivery of legal services.
