Where in the world of OVO will I be working? In the Technology team at OVO, we organise ourselves into large cross functional Domain teams. Domain teams are groups of skilled technologists who are accountable for the effective operation of their areas both in terms of technology and people. They are enduring teams who own a long term strategy. They are designed to be as autonomous and self contained as possible. Domains have their own leadership, have a clear purpose, own their own roadmap, headcount and budget to maintain their areas and deliver against business priorities. This role sits within the Product and Technology team reporting into the Director of Technology Delivery and will work across the Tech teams and wider OVO business. What will I be doing? You will be responsible for leading delivery for a large complex Domain team, in the consumer domains you will work alongside a peer from Product Management and Engineering. In the enablement domains you will be part of that area’s leadership team. You, with your peers, will be accountable for your domain's overall effective operation, ensuring that the team are able to provide the maximum amount of value to the organisation Define, implement and improve the overall ways of working and the operating model for your domain. This should meet the needs of the business and favour agility but finds the balance between the competing demands for enhancement with the need to maintain the health of the technology. The model should also be one which delegates decision making and empowers teams to be as autonomous as possible Capture appropriate data in order to provide regular and ad hoc reporting on your teams and the overall health of the domain. Visualise progress, manage and escalate risks, issues/blockers and dependency conflicts as appropriate Provide the Portfolio team and the Technology leadership team with regular management information covering the breadth of your domain Continually seek to improve upon overall domain team performance Work collaboratively with other Ovo teams including finance, legal and procurement to ensure the efficiency of the Technology team operations Cross domain delivery alignment - working with other domain heads of delivery to align WOW and embed continuous learning and development Ensure common tooling is fit for purpose and adopted by teams Build and maintain a proactive working relationship with business stakeholders to align the Technology strategy with business priorities Own, drive and facilitate the planning and prioritisation process Manage the investment for your domain, own the resource profile and ensure the scaling up and down of additional personnel is predicted Where appropriate own the relationship with 3rd parties, ensuring that engagements are valuable and cost effective Line manage the Delivery team members Embed an inclusive, empowered and diverse culture. Agile mindset and agile delivery techniques. Support the wellbeing of the team and measure their overall satisfaction Is this the job for me? Ideally you will have: Strong technology delivery background with demonstrable experience of managing large complex technology teams, projects or programmes Excellent understanding of agile principles, mindset and methodologies with examples of them being applied in practice Experience of working closely with or directly leading high performing, autonomous cross-functional technology teams including software engineering Outstanding leadership and influencing skills that have been developed in diverse, ambiguous and fast-moving environments Able to provide examples of working in organisations to enable new technologies, increase value and improve enterprise agility and business effectiveness - proven track-record of delivering positive outcomes Able to challenge the norm, constantly review, and assess the best routes to enable Technology teams to meet the Business’ ambitions Pragmatic and solution oriented mindset Be self motivated and able to work well under pressure A progressive and people-first management style - Inspires and motivates the team Excellent communication skills and experience working with senior leaders across the business Brilliant benefits for a world-changing teamOur people are at the heart of Plan Zero.
