The role of Wine and Champagne Ambassador – UK and Ireland will operate in the capacity of ‘Wine & Champagne Educator’ for Pernod Ricard Winemakers based in London - UK, representing the Pernod Ricard wine and champagne portfolio and responsible for performing local and regional ambassadorial duties. The position plays a key role in driving wine culture within the Market Company, raising visibility and share of mind for our brands and forging strong relationships with key stakeholders.
The role will specifically focus on the activation and amplification of PRW’s strategic wine brands through wine education, targeting key stakeholder audiences ie sales teams, trade customers, distributors, key influencers, wine journalists, consumers.
Wine and Champagne Education & Engagement – minimum 40% of role, driving external and internal advocacy
Brand Development & Sales Support – 30% of role, covering activations, support of buyer meetings, lead tastings, NPD immersion
Events – 20% of role, supporting and working at key customer, consumer & trade wine events
Market Intelligence & Reporting – 10% of role, provided through regular reporting and meetings
Ireland - Deliver wine education in Ireland for key initiatives/events.
Your unique contribution
You will have 4 main areas of responsibility:
1. Wine Education:
Drive wine and champagne culture as the portfolio’s ‘product expert’ by demonstrating superior brand and category knowledge
Provide formal and informal product/brand education and training (in person or virtually) for Pernod Ricard affiliates, distributors, trade, consumers and media on PRW’s key strategic brands in the region
Provide input to the PRW Education team on the development training and educational tools/initiatives for wine and our brands for use in market with key stakeholder audiences
2. Brand Development:
Instil a ‘wine & champagne culture’ within the Pernod Ricard affiliate network through increased exposure to wine and ongoing education on PRW wine brands
Educate and mentor sales teams to broaden their understanding and support gaining listing and activating in key channels ie lead tastings, provide NPD immersion, support buyer meetings
Develop and manage a social media community, as per the PRW guidelines, to promote our brands
Develop local relationships with relevant industry representatives, distributors, trade customers and other organisations that can play an instrumental role in building brand reputation and advocacy
3. Trade and Consumer Events:
Support local team by managing, organising, implementing and representing our brands at relevant trade and consumer events
Work closely with Regional Education Manager to support key visits by Winemakers, Global Marketing (inbound) to deliver ‘best in class’ execution at major trade shows and key industry events
Work closely with local teams (internal sales, distributors) to provide industry expertise at appropriate consumer fairs, trade shows, brand activations and exhibitions.
Propose, present and initiate new experiential activities aligned to brand strategies which can be delivered at events, to showcase PRW wines & MMPJ portfolio
4. Reporting:
Provide regular market updates on key activity, market intelligence, competitor information on a monthly basis (or when required) and as directed by the Education team
Monitor brand performance and pricing fluctuations seen in the marketplace
Proactively communicate learnings from the field and share best practices with the local market affiliate and PRW (via Regional Business Acceleration Team) on an ongoing basis
