Factory Overview:
· 3 shift operation – rotating day shift and permanent nights
· Approximately 340 staff members
· B2B and retail products. 4 bottling lines and 6 B2B vessels and 18 cooking vessels
· Produce mayonnaise, pasta sauces, chutneys, salad dressings and pastes
Site History:
EPC Newbury was purchased by the Billington Group in 1997. It had been founded by John and Ann Curwin making Jams, condiments and Chutneys. In 2004 we opened a brand-new purpose-built factory in Newbury. In 2005 we acquired Suffolk foods which was a manufacturer of mayonnaise and sauces. In 2014 we opened a industry leading innovation facility in Newbury – known as ‘innovate’. We also have a small, one line production plant in Newport – named Newport Very Lazy (VL) as they produce our own brand ‘Very Lazy’ products.
Job Overview:
EPC are looking for a confident front-line manager to supervise the Warehouse weekend shift and ensure the successful loading of all Retail and Business to Business deliveries. The role would suit an ambitious individual who will manage a group of Warehouse staff and guide them to complete the required workload over the weekend. Attention to detail and a clear view of task is essential, as is the use of systems and spreadsheets.
Correct communication and escalation are key within this position, and an understanding of good business practice is required.
With the focus on people, and adherence to process, the successful candidate would be the main point of contact on site over the weekend. Full training will be given to the right candidate as well as ongoing support from all operational management at EPC.
Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Carry out daily shift handovers, ensuring a smooth changeover of shift using handover reports and shift updates on progress.
2. Ensure all sales orders are picked accurately and timely in accordance with the sales order picking routines.
3. Ensure product is picked in advance for production when required, including material for the prep room and labelling for the filling hall.
1. Maintaining excellent standards of vehicle loading and pallet security for all outward bound loads.
2. Ensure all raw materials and packing that are being returned to the warehouse are clean, suitably wrapped to prevent foreign contamination and accurately labelled with all the relevant information.
3. Endeavour to store product in the warehouse free from damage, maintaining a good standard of housekeeping throughout.
4. To ensure all stock carries a product label to facilitate and aid the tracking of the associated stock movements and batch traceability.
5. Report any damages to Warehouse and Yard areas, including racking, machinery and fabric of the building.
6. Ensure safety checks regarding forklifts are carried out on a daily basis, keeping records of breakdowns and repairs. Ensuring batteries are in good working order and charged at the end of shift.
7. Maintain traceability information on all pallets and units of measure until exhausted.
8. Ensure product is within shelf life and is rotated on a FIFO basis and is issued to the factory in this order
9. Ensure all stock movements are completed on the computer system.
10. To consolidate racking space to make better and more efficient use of available storage space and ensure accurate stock locations.
11. Ensure the yard area is kept tidy and organised.
12. Advise planning and supply chain of any stock outs of product against orders.
13. Ensure all processing stock is picked in advance for production.
14. Notify the stock control team and your direct line manager of any stock errors on Unity.
15. Maintain accurate records on any stock returns from internal and external customers, liaising with the stock control team and customer services to ensure correct records are kept on Unity.
16. Ensure all internal procedures are carried out
17. Advise customer services and planning of any finished product shortages.
18. Liaise with Quality control and your direct line manager regarding any non-conformity relating to incoming goods or finished products.
Essential
- FLT Licence (Counterbalance/Reach/Bendi)
- Experience of Warehouse operations, scanning and location control and Warehouse systems
- Computer literate
- Communication
- Management/supervisory experience within a Warehouse environment
Desirable
- Knowledge of Sanderson systems/Unity
- Management qualifications
- Knowledge of management techniques
Work schedule:
The role works a weekend pattern, Friday to Monday 6am to 4pm. In addition to the salary on advert, there is a 2.5% shift premium for the weekend working pattern.
