Job Description

The Role

The Executive Casework unit oversees complex correspondence for the Chief Executive, Chair and ExCo, as well as correspondence with Ministers and Members of Parliament.

It sits in the Communications division and works closely with Private Offices, other teams in the Communications Division, especially the Public Affairs team, and the Supervision Hub, to provide accurate and consistent responses to key correspondence.

This role will require you to manage MPs’ letters on behalf of the FCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of our written engagement with MPs, will ensure that high quality, helpful letters are sent in a timely way, and will ensure that intelligence from parliamentarians is communicated to the rest of the organisation.
What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?

  • Logging incoming correspondence from MPs and other politicians
  • Updating and ensuring the accuracy of our database of MPs’ letters
  • Understanding the political environment and using judgment to prioritise letters and escalate issues identified in them according to the risk posed to the organisation's objectives and priorities
  • Liaising with the contact centre and complaints team to ensure a joined-up approach to our external communications as well as data sharing
  • Using the database to provide regular updates to ExCo, policy and supervisory areas. Keeping database under constant review and propose changes to better manage data and improve reporting
  • Managing large volumes of correspondence from high priority stakeholders
  • Drafting and reviewing responses, including working with the rest of the organisation to draft and review letters for FCA style, FCA Tone of Voice, language, punctuation and quality assurance purposes
  • Helping to implement a change and improvement programme in the way the FCA deals with correspondence from politicians
What will the candidate get from the role?

  • Representing the MPs Letter team internally and organising internal communications in support of the team’s work
  • Working with politicians and their offices to help ensure public confidence in our role as a regulator
Skills/Experience Required

Minimum

We’re a signatory to the Government’s Disability Confident scheme.   • Strong written communication skills
  • Proven experience of using multiple databases
  • Proven experience of managing large volumes of correspondence whilst ensuring service standards are maintained
Essential
  • Proven strong organisational skills including experience of dealing with multiple demands at the same time
  • Excellent attention to detail when drafting and reviewing responses
  • Able to develop strong relationships and networks across an organisation to ensure a joined-up approach and to deliver to strict deadlines
Desirable
  • Good understanding of the political environment
  • Experience of dealing with Parliamentary offices or government departments
  • Experience of cross-organisational working to achieve a common goal

  • The salary range in London is up to £56,200 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
  • The salary range in Edinburgh & Leeds is up to £52,500 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
