Roles based in London will receive an additional London Weighting of £3,595. Dependent on successful completion of mandatory training. Officers who are fully trained and deployable in NCA firearms tactics, surveillance and advanced driver trained or Armed surveillance biker trained may be eligible for a pay uplift to £39,831. Recruitment and Retention Allowance: This is currently set at £3,000 for this post. The RRA is an enhancement to the role and is reviewed annually. This role attracts a SPOT Rate salary. SPOT Rate offers a progressive increase in pay to reflect the skills and experience of the officer. This is a “Spot Rate” role on a grade of 3 to 4 achieved by evidence of skills and experiences with the top grade at £39,831. Progression to a higher spot rate is only achievable once in post. Eligibility for spot rates is determined by the requirements of the role, not the skills or capabilities of the officer occupying the role. Roles where IPP or PIP accreditation is essential are eligible for spot rates.

To provide an armed and unarmed covert surveillance response in accordance with business requirements.

Salary is £38,314 - dependent on successful completion of mandatory training. Officers who are fully trained and deployable in NCA firearms tactics, surveillance and advanced driver trained or Armed surveillance biker trained may be eligible for a pay uplift to £39,831.

Job description

We are looking for experienced surveillance operatives ideally with College of Policing ‘Professionalising Investigation Programme’ (PIP) Investigations Skills or who hold a recognised alternative investigative accreditation.


Individuals who do not currently hold PIP accreditation or an equivalent recognised investigative accreditation or qualification issued by a Government body are still eligible to apply but will be subject to an Investigation Officer Assessment Centre as part of the recruitment process.

Those successful at the Investigation Officer Assessment Centre and experienced investigators who join the agency without PIP accreditation will be required to achieve this within their probationary period.

Main Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the acquisition and development of tactical and strategic intelligence focused on serious and organised crime affecting the UK.
  • Participate in operations and investigations, gathering information, intelligence and evidence in order to build knowledge of serious and organised crime and support the achievement of Agency objectives.
  • Provide advice on legislation, policy and tactical options to assist in the planning and implementation of investigations and operations.
  • Provide tactical and strategic support to Agency business through research, target profile development, the collection and analysis of evidence/data, production and dissemination of intelligence and evidential products as appropriate.
  • Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of intelligence, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care in line with Agency policy.
  • Role may require case management, and to create, maintain and update departmental records, including operational or programme activity spreadsheet, case files and monthly reports.
  • Build good working relationships with both internal and external partners.

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

  • Current Valid Police Advanced Driver.
  • Experienced Q1 (Q100) Surveillance trained College of Policing Surveillance Operative or recognised equivalent.
