We are looking for a multifaceted and hardworking individual who has strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a dedication to customer service. Selflessly putting the customer at the heart of everything we do and who values providing a service both individually and as part of a team in the lively Receipt and Despatch department, which sits within the busy Supply Chain department.
The SZ3 Senior Storekeeper Clothing Stores is responsible for the efficient accounting and store keeping of the Clothing Store and all associated clothing specialist routines. The SZ3 Senior Storekeeper is also responsible for the continuity of the Clothing Store making sure the Supervision and cover of staff is maintained in the event of leave and sickness. Also responsible for ensuring that all regulations appertaining to the receipt, dispatch, issue, handling, preservation, stowage and security of stores are accurately and consistently applied. Training on all Manual/IT systems will be provided, enabling the applicant to become proficient in their role empowering them to make key independent decisions.
The applicant will also be required to assist with other duties within the department when situations decide.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

  • Ensuring that all regulations appertaining to the receipt, issue, handling, preservation, stowage and security of the stores are properly and consistently applied.
  • Ensuring Stock Management is kept within the JSP 886/BR3 to satisfy customer orders and Operational requirements.
  • Ordering goods from suppliers using direct supply, Low Value Purchase, MJDI and local Supply Chain procedures subject to authorised approval.
  • Maintain the integrity of the main account by actioning all transactions promptly using manual and IT stock control systems as appropriate.
  • Processing payment transactions from non-serving and entitled personnel through the cash office.
  • Supervise the Skill Zone 2 Storekeepers working within the department.
  • Supervise the counter service daily focusing on best customer service within the guidelines, staff experience and availability.
  • Supervise best practice when dealing with internal and external sources including Specialist Clothing, Laundry and the Tailoring services etc.
  • Operate mechanical handling aids and other SC related transport to support various tasks within the department subject to training and possession of appropriate licences.
  • Maintenance of the building security, cleanliness and complying with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Comply with all Station and Supply Chain Health & Safety regulations.
  • Liaise with and assist other departments within the Supply Chain, providing cover to control work flows.

Person specification

The SZ3 Senior Storekeeper Clothing Store is required to undertake duties, commensurate with their grade in other areas within the Logistics Supply Chain (SC) Department as directed by Merlin Force Logistics Officer (MFLO) and Logistics Officer Main Stores Group LO (MSG). They are responsible for ensuring their professional knowledge of store keeping, and stores accounting procedures remain current.
