Job Title

Industrial Hygienist (1-year Fixed Term Contract)

  • Leading the specialist multidisciplinary Industrial Hygiene (IH) program to service the GSK site, advising on all aspects of the program in accordance with legal requirements, company policies, procedures and strategic direction.
  • Develop and lead the site IH program managing chemical, physical (noise, radiation, thermal, light), biological and ergonomic risks within the site.
  • Be the technical authority/SME, working with senior managers to ensure that IH risks are considered and adequately addressed in new engineering projects, new product introductions and product transfers.
  • Champion and lead compliance with GSK standards in collaboration with site and above site functions.

In this role you will…

  • Advise management on measures that should be introduced in the interests of the health of all employees and contractors and their protection against potential health exposure hazards.
  • Assess and advise the site on IH requirements for any new installations or engineering modifications.
  • Develop and implement workplace IH sampling / monitoring programme to quantitatively assess IH stressors.
  • Investigate and report the cause of each IH incident or complaint and make recommendations to prevent their re-occurrence.
  • Influence site staff and contractors to adhere to the site safety and health policies and standards through regular interactions and process confirmation.
  • Catalyse training, educational campaigns and group activities to make aware the understanding of health exposure risks and control measures that exist on the site.
  • Manage hygiene monitoring equipment to expected standards, assuring maintenance and calibrations routines are executed as planned, to recognised international standards (e.g NIST).
  • Conduct and be involved in regular EHS checks, inspections and audits of through the site audit universe.
  • Work across boundaries with core business units on site to ensure the effective management of IH risks.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and control measures to meet regulatory and Corporate EHS requirements.
