About Directorate

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Care Quality team within the Adults and public health directorate. You will play a lead role in overseeing some of our most important roles within adult social care services.

About the role

The Care Market Provider Support Officer will play a supporting role in ensuring Communities, Adults and Health meets the requirements of the Care Act 2014, in particular section 5, which states that local authorities have a duty to promote the efficient and effective operation of a market in services for meeting care and support needs

Core activities of the role include

  • To work with the wider Care Quality Service to develop and implement our overarching training and development offer for care providers
  • To support advisors and contract management officers in reviewing the sufficiency of provider training and identifying improvement areas and gaps to work on
  • To work on our overarching support offer to providers, to staff, registered persons / owners and management (including around business planning and responding to provider concerns)
  • To support with engaging providers, and existing engagement mechanisms across the service, to prepare them for social care reform (including assurance)
  • To support our work as a service to engage providers generally in our strategic planning, including reviewing our engagement processes and the extent to which they offer us the intelligence we need to support care services effectively
  • Managing a small £20k training budget alongside their Service Manager on behalf of the wider service
  • Partnership working – developing the service’s relationship with safeguarding, NCL ICB, NCL Councils, commissioning and Adult Social Care, both in terms of coordinating provider concerns and leveraging support / investment around diversifying our provider support offer.

This is an initial 2 year fixed term appointment.

About you

  • Experience of developing strong partnerships across sectors including working with voluntary sector partners and funding agencies
  • Experience of working with employers in Health and Social care
  • Experience of project management including achieving targets, utilising budgets and developing good practice and working effectively in multi-disciplinary and inter-agency teams.
  • Ability to gather, integrate and analyse information.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills in addressing concerns, underperformance and breach of contract regulations.
