Job Description Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a bright and motivated individual to join the Group’s Corporate Finance & International unit, with a focus on the Group’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activity.

The team is responsible for advising Group Corporate Development and Divisional Finance teams on the financial aspects of LBG’s prospective M&A deals and strategic equity investments. Through this role, the successful candidate will gain considerable exposure to strategic decision making, corporate finance solutioning and gaining knowledge and exposure in areas such as tax, pensions, legal, SPA, indemnity management, statutory reporting and liquidations to name a few.

This is a unique opportunity to gain a strong foundation in Corporate Finance, build relationships with senior stakeholders across the bank and help shape the future of LBG through enabling the Bank’s inorganic strategy.
Job Description
What you'll be doing...

  • Co-ordinate & drive the finance work stream for each transaction
  • Shape & drive the financial due diligence process in conjunction with external advisors
  • Work closely with Group Corporate Development and business areas to support the execution of inorganic projects as part of the Transaction finance team
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of business valuations to support the evaluation of the transaction being considered – this includes sensitising of valuation models & drivers in order to understand future impact on financials
  • Co-ordinate relevant financial expertise to ensure all financial risks and impacts are rigorously assessed e.g. tax, capital etc.
  • Review of & sensitivity analysis valuation models & valuation drivers to articulate future financial impacts
  • Development of accounting treatment to acquisitions (i.e. IFRS 3, IFRS 5, IFRS 9, IFRS 10, IAS 28, IAS 37, etc)
  • Produce cumulative impact of transactions on Group’s operating plans
  • Review & mark up of Sale & Purchase Agreements to protect financials & financial strategy
  • Determination of completion account structures including review & mark up of accounting & valuation policies in SPA which will be used to value balance sheet acquired/sold

Skills and Experience you'll need to have...

Recommended Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of banking & banking products
  • Critical thinking and questioning mind
  • Ability to draw conclusions and identify key financial risks by piecing various source documents and meetings
  • Multi-tasking various projects and deadlines
  • Broad Commercial knowledge
  • Problem solving
  • Experience of working in a high pressure environment
  • Working in a project environment
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Strong Excel skills (i.e. financial modelling)
  • Strong reporting writing and visualisation via powerpoint and word
  • Statutory/Regulatory knowledge an advantage

Knowledge
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc).
  • Interest in global banking & Fintech environment
  • Technical accounting supported by solid understanding of business objectives.
  • Understanding of Banking Capital
  • Understanding of the Group’s strategy
  • Ideally, corporate finance experience (due diligence, lead advisory / valuation).
