Job Description

The Role

What’s the role?

Accountabilities:

  • Present a respected face from Shipping to the global LNG business, LNG JVs and small-scale LNG.

  • Enable projects through development of appropriate shipping solutions. Maintain close liaison with global stakeholders to ensure that they take full commercial advantage of the depth and breadth of shipping support available to develop and operate LNG projects.

  • Represent Shell in discussions with external customers, potential and existing JV partners, and government representatives on shipping matters.

  • Support Shell LNG ventures in LNG shipping matters.

  • Team up with shipping technology to frame and develop commercial application of new developments in shipping in general and LNG shipping in particular.

  • Identify and implement medium and long-term shipping opportunities for Shell projects, including small-scale, and JVs. Negotiate commercial arrangements relating to shipping service agreements and vessel time charters.

  • Ability to challenge and influence project teams to consider a range of shipping solutions in each project design phase.

  • Work in a complex environment with minimal initial definition and develop a structured approach leading to optimal shipping solutions.

  • Develop economic modeling skills and a good understanding of project economics and how shipping input fits in this.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key players from the global LNG business development group and others.

  • Require helicopter analytical skills. Need to collect data and draw conclusions from the detailed technical topics whilst developing high level summaries to convince senior stakeholders.

  • Need to keep up to speed with the fast-changing landscape of new LNG shipping developments such as small-scale vessels, floating regas units, new propulsion systems etc. and use this understanding in developing new solutions for Shell, including development of new fit for purpose contracts by building on existing contractual structures and learning from other businesses.

What we need from you

We hope to see the following in your CV:

  • Preferably with a Masters Degree in any Business course, Shipping Technology (Technical Background) or Economics (Commercial).

  • Clear understanding of the corporate complexities and sensitivities in dealing with various internal & external parties, including Governments.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills (local and global).

  • Must have experience with Business Transactions Development and Commercial Deal Making.

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience and exposure to the LNG market and LNG Bunkering.

  • Excellent analytical skills including economic modelling (project/deal economics) and ability to apply Economics into building an innovative commercial structure.

  • Proven commercial acumen together with the ability to recognise and successfully realise opportunities to enhance value to the LNG Sector.

  • Working knowledge of the international shipping, LNG or gas industry in general and the basic technical and operational issues involved in LNG, including awareness of shipping related contracts.

  • Clear customer focus and appropriate relationship and negotiating skills.

  • Strong personal drive and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills across different cultures.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in the English language.
