Job Description

We pay THE BEST SALARIES in the industry PLUS BONUS for every role!
Join the Number 1 highest quality nursery group on the Ofsted leaderboard!

We’re N Family. Inspired by futures. Focused on achieving every goal. Empowered by people who dream. No matter how big or small your dream is. We’re here for dreams of all sizes.

We began with a dream. To be the highest quality, and most loved, early years education group in the UK. We imagined a future of early years education that was different. Where a focused, curriculum-led approach would inspire big dreamers and big career movers. Where children are prepared for this ever-changing, modern world and where people come to life when they come to work!

From industry leading salaries and a refreshed approach to flexibility for better work-life balance, to around the world trips and lifelong learning through the N Academy. Our benefits are there to support every dream at every stage of life.

Who are we looking for?
This is a key role within the People Team and is focussed on not only the delivery of robust and high-quality services and support for our people, but also building and launching new services and ways of working.

You will be responsible for championing team members, and partnering with leaders across the business, to ensure we deliver our people strategy, which builds organizational and people capabilities to deliver business success. Working backwards from the needs of all N team members and key stakeholders, you will drive efficient and frustration free services across the company that are scalable, fit for purpose and future proof.

Key to being successful will be using data to manage service delivery, mechanisms to inspect processes and constantly iterating and improving, whilst ensuring full legal compliance.

What do you need to bring with you?
  • Proven experience as a skilled HR generalist, ideally in a multi-site company
  • Extensive employee relations experience, ideally with experience handing ET claims and TUPE
  • Experience working with HRIS systems as a ‘superuser’, ideally HiBob
  • Ideally some experience within (but definitely passion for) the Early Years or Education sector
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent
  • Ability to work under pressure and set and achieve high standards within tight timeframes
  • Highly organised and able to manage your workload and that of others in the team efficiently and effectively
  • Excitement about joining a start-up embarking on huge growth (resilience, commitment and flexibility)
  • Confident in providing advice and finding the right balance between policy compliance and operational needs

What will we offer you?
  • £35K p/a
  • Up to 32 days holiday a year (including bank holidays)
  • Personal development fund of £100 per year
  • Professional development, specialisms, coaching and mentoring through our N Academy
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Shared Parental leave pay for all team members after 2 years continuous service with N.
  • 5 days full sick pay and, depending on individual circumstances, we may offer up to 5 days discretionary leave.
  • Paid training including 1 inset day per year
  • Childcare discount
  • Emergency childcare: 6 back-up childcare days in any of our nurseries.

There's more...
  • Round the world trip and 2 weeks additional holiday for 5 years service
  • Refer a friend bonus of £1000 (plus other incentives) for existing and ex employees
  • Amazing wellbeing benefits including one wellbeing week per term, Headspace premium membership, free counselling, 10% ClassPass membership discount, hardship fund.
  • Season pass loan and cycle to work scheme
  • Promotion opportunities in a fast growing company
  • Brilliant team culture, parties and celebrations

Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Working closely with the People leadership team to understand and execute the people plan as a trusted advisor to the business.
  • Ensuring the delivery of frustration free HR services across the company focusing on and evolving the employee experience.
  • Managing any issues and escalations in a timely and effective manner, identifying the root cause and solving for the immediate, but also for the future.
  • Supporting managers with a range of employee relation cases including fact-finding, disciplinaries, grievances, flexible working and probations etc.
  • Supporting managers to manage sickness absence consistently and fairly in line with N’s sickness policy.
  • Supporting managers to manage underperformance consistently and fairly in line with N’s performance management policy.
  • Providing appropriate support to managers and team members in relation to employee wellbeing, including Occupational Health referrals and mental health support.
  • Advising on reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act.
  • Reducing risks by keeping us legal, safe, and compliant. Using mechanisms to inspect and quickly escalating and resolving as required.
  • Ensuring that the ongoing efficiency and integrity of our HRIS system (HiBob) is being met and the system is being used to its full capability.
  • Responsibility for writing and maintaining compliant, efficient, and scalable People policies and procedures and communicating these clearly to managers and team members.
  • Producing and analysing People data
  • Leading on acquisition integration projects.
  • Supporting change management
  • Supporting the People Assistants and administration team in ensuring their work is executed effectively.
  • Checking monthly variable payroll reports.
  • Analysing reasons for employee attrition to support with reducing LTO.
