Overall Purpose of The Job
Responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of hotel accommodation areas in constant co-operation with the relevant Fleet and HSEQ Superintendents and Managers and the Client's Hotel Operations representative.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Plans, controls and executes activities related to maintenance, modification and upgrades in:
Deck areas:
Weather decks floorings - teak decks, resin decks, and jogging tracks
Swimming pool and saunas
External furnishing and wooden structures (i.e. handrails, doors, steps, etc.)
Food and Beverage areas:
Floorings and coatings - galley, pantry, and bar floors
Crew and passenger areas
Flooring and coatings
Furnishings
Interior decorations
Medical Center:
Floorings and coatings
Furnishing
Spa areas:
Sauna (equipment included)
Gymnasium (equipment included)
Steam bath (equipment included)
Hair dressing saloon, massage room, etc
Verifies and approves ship's requisitions for spares, materials, services and consumables within his/her area of responsibilities. He/she co-operates with the Purchasing Staff for evaluation of suppliers, new products proposals and development of new resources.
Releases to the Head of Technical {Leisure) and relevant Fleet Manager periodical updates on ship's hotel aspects conditions and performances, based on own surveys or such carried out by other Superintendents/ Managers and relevant documentation.
Plans and prepares, for the ships and area of his/her competence, dry-dock specifications, following Hotel refurbishing and maintenance during refit works.
Collaborates with the Hotel Dept./ Client in all issues related to maintenance and upgrades of the crew and passenger accommodations and public areas and overall all improvements to deliver client's satisfaction
Works within scope of the company policies and management system {VMS} and implements and monitors relevant procedures
Ownership of all ship support, risk management and maintenance of Brand standards on-board
IT Systems are excluded however technical support for these systems should it be required to be provided.
Provide world class facilities maintenance support working closely with the on-board teams and Technical Managers ashore
Oversee the Hotel maintenance system giving support to the ships teams and guiding where necessary Provide expertise and guidance, viable solutions and corrective actions to address issues on-board
Planning, preparation, coordination and project management for ship Guest & Crew facing areas for refits, dry and wet docks within the Hotel and Crew areas
Provide data and support for future strategy planning of facilities across the Spirit fleet
Required Experience
ESSENTIAL:
Naval Architect or Interior Decorator
Specific know-how and experience in the hoteling field
A talented senior manager, preferably with a proven track record of working in the cruise industry, either on or offshore
Demonstrable experience in delivering projects on time and within budget
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Externally referenced and focused on continuously seeking professional development – to ensure that Saga’s approach to hotel operations is both relevant and future proof
Strong commerciality and business acumen
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Demonstrable IT proficiency ( Microsoft Office essential)
A talented and proven people manager, who is able to lead and influence a diverse and remote work-force.
Demonstrated FF&E management
Strong knowledge of SOLAS, Flag and Class requirements
Flexibility to travel as required
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and through presentation of data in reports
Persuasion, negotiation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Customer focused and passionate about building an exceptional customer service ethos and approach.
