The Global Congress Manager role is required to successfully deliver GSK’s presence at external medical congresses to support brand, disease, business, and company priorities. The role is an expert one that provides the execution link between the Oncology Global Product Strategy team and the external events and is based on deep expertise in the congress area. Through strong partnerships with the GPS teams and LOC teams, the congress manager role delivers on strategic priorities through one of the most high-profile channels of interactions with customers.
The successful candidate will actively contribute to reaching the companies goals by driving oncology launches to achieve commercial launch readiness, including consistent completion of deliverables in collaboration with business leads.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inputs to the planning for Medical and Commercial for Global Oncology and is part of the Congress Steering group (or equivalent) to define congress attendance (i.e. type of exhibit, symposia, etc.) based on the medical and commercial objectives and needs
Includes providing guidance and recommendations of the role congresses can play in achieving objectives
Tracks, influences, recommends and challenges appropriate spend of budgets on congresses within Oncology and facilitates corresponding agreement on milestones and deliverables for each congress to achieve optimal congress presence
Project manages GSK’s presence at international congresses to ensure successful on-site delivery by collaborating with a variety of business partners and stakeholders (including GSK Pharma, GSK LOCs, Meetings CoE, etc.)
Leads on the planning, development and execution of global events in line with all compliance, SOPs (including Scientific Engagement), GSK standards and LOC standards and identifies / works to resolve any specific challenges / issues with plans (e.g. activities outside EFPIA and GSK Scientific Engagement principles)
Acts as the recognized expert to GSK stakeholders involved in congress activities and leads on a range of activities including – booth design and implementation of GSK collateral, housing, registration, logistics, organization of pre-congress briefings and other congress meetings, internal communications, reporting TOVs to US HCOs, necessary due diligence on third parties, AAR post congress, etc.
Manages the relationship with i) third party vendors and agencies to ensure all necessary contracts are negotiated and in place, they are compliant with the relevant code of practice requirements, and they deliver at or above expectations at events; ii) Congress Organizers and Scientific Associations so that GSK in best positioned for sponsorship and attendance (this includes endorsement of the GSK ways of working, i.e., HCP engagement, etc.)
Acts as trusted business partner for the Global Oncology Global Product Strategy team and drives continuous improvement by introducing innovative ideas and identifying better ways to creatively streamline events and congresses (especially under budget constraints) and align congresses as part of the broader multi-channel strategy.
Ensures master files are maintained, congress measurements / metrics are completed, and documentation is collected for the quarterly compliance reporting reviews, and keeps stakeholders updated on procedures to ensure congresses are delivered in an ethical and compliant manner
