Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid working - Head office: Quorum Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne

Hours per week: 37

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the role


We’re seeking experienced Data Engineers to join our Data and Analytics team. This is a challenging and exciting role within the team.

Your responsibilities will include working on key projects for our core business and digital transformation delivering data integrations, pipelines, and warehousing solutions. In addition, you will help to create an environment in which the Data & Analytics team can grow through improving our data engineering practices.

NCFE is in the process of moving to a Microsoft Azure Synapse and Data Factory based landscape for our data integration and data warehousing needs. In addition, we are adopting MS Dynamics 365 suite of applications for our core systems and intend to utilise the MS Dataverse in our technology architecture. You'll need to be able to build data engineering solutions for this landscape as well as working in our legacy architecture of SSIS, SSRS and SQL server.

We'd love to hear from you if you hold the following key skills and experience:
  • Strong Microsoft SQL knowledge and experience.
  • Data modelling experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse
  • Experience of integration SSIS and SSRS.
  • Experience in developing integration solutions.
  • Experience of working with JSON, XML, flat files, structured and non-structured datasets.
  • Ability to coach individuals to resolve any data/reporting related issues.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and work to within deadlines.
We’d also like to highlight the following learning, development and career opportunities in this role:
  • We’ll support and encourage your continued technical and management development.
  • You’ll work with our Solutions Architects, Data Engineering Manager and IT Development.
  • You’ll be responsible, as part of a wider team of data engineers, for the development of data integrations, pipelines and warehouses for our Digital Transformation and other projects.
  • Your key objectives will include the adoption of best practices to support our data engineering needs.
  • As well as experience in adoption of Microsoft Azure Synapse, ADF and Integration Services you’ll be familiar with SSRS and SSIS to understand work with our legacy estate
This role requires hybrid working therefore you will need to be within travel distance of Head Office to ensure you can work from the office 2 times a month.
