Job Introduction

The HR Operations team manages key HR processes, systems and service relationships to ensure delivery of a clear, simple and effective HR service to employees and managers within BBC Studios. They work closely with the BBC Group-wide People Services teams, with whom BBC Studios has a service agreement for the provision of central services, such as delivery of transactional HR activity, to ensure BBC Studios receive the level of service required for our operations. They also work closely with BBC Group-wide Technology teams on pan-BBC HR systems, as well as delivering various day-to-day, quarterly and annual HR operations processes. Overall, the team has a key focus on continuous improvement, particularly in simplifying our processes and systems and improving our employee experience.

The HR Operations Manager will report to the Head of HR Operations, sitting within the BBC Studios HR Projects, Change & Operations team.

Main Responsibilities

The role will support the Head of HR Operations with ensuring the ongoing effectiveness and appropriateness of central HR processes for both employees in the UK and in international markets, through process improvement and collaboration with other teams within Studios HR in the UK and our non-UK regional offices, BBC Group People Services and third party service providers.

The HR Operations Manager will line manage a small team of HR Advisors to ensure effective delivery of BAU HR activity across a range of processes, including payroll and contract administration for BBC Studios’ EMEA offices, Contingent Workforce engagement administration, UK employee lifecycle processes and data updates to our various HR systems.

On a day to day basis, the role will be responsible for activity including but not limited to:

  • Relationship management with BBC Group People Services, UK payroll and other outsourced providers to ensure BBC Studios receives an effective service from central teams.
  • Ensuring effective delivery of payroll and employee lifecycle processes for BBC Studios’ EMEA offices.
  • Owning key annual, quarterly and monthly HR Operations processes.
  • Owning the BBC Studios People intranet site and ensuring information held there is accurate and user friendly for employees and managers across BBC Studios.
  • Ensuring that any Studios HR procedures relating to employees comply with GDPR and/or any local legislation outside the UK, working in collaboration with BBC Studios’ Privacy team.
  • Driving process improvement across the above as needed.

The role will also support the Head of HR Operations and other members of the HR Projects, Change & Operations team with projects and BAU activity relating to BBC Studios HR processes, policies and systems.

The role will work closely with others within the HR Operations team, as well as with those within the wider Studios HR team and BBC HR.

Are you the right candidate?

Essential

  • Experience of delivering HR process, initiatives and services.
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver practical results against time and performance indicators.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop, maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of contacts; strong influencing and persuading skills.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve logistically complex problems.
  • Compares and contrasts situations and information, identifying patterns and trends which inform subsequent decisions.
  • Creates a sense of team spirit, encouraging shared ownership of objectives and deliverables.
  • Leads delivery at a team level by prioritising and setting clear milestones and measures.
  • Encourages others to act in line with organisational standards and frameworks.
  • Ability to support and lead and deliver large scale projects across organisation(s).

Desirable

  • Prior experience of working with People systems (such as SAP).
  • Prior experience of line management.
  • Use of process improvement tools and their application.
