Under direction, to coordinate and manage the sterile processing program and to ensure that staff provide high quality sterile and disinfected instrumentation, supplies and equipment infection control in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
The incumbents will monitor the performance of team members to ensure proper sterilization methods and procedures are performed. A successful candidate would possess a valid Certification from The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
[formerly the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM)] or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution as a Sterile Processing Technician and/or Sterile Processing Manager and have experience in developing compliance and productivity standards to ensure departmental goals are met. The ideal applicant would also possess a valid Certified Endoscope Reprocessing (CER) certification, valid Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) as well as Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) certification.

Sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to demonstrate possession of the knowledge and abilities listed below.
Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Central Services-Materials Management (IAHCSM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution as Sterile Processing Technician and/or Sterile Processing Manager is required.
Training and Experience Note: The required skills, knowledge and abilities would be acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Health Services Management, Applied Health Sciences, Health care Administration or a related field that included coursework in Operating Room or Sterile Processing management
AND
three (3) years of professional experience in sterile processing or operating room procedures, two (2) years of which was in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
OR
An Associate's degree from an accredited college in Surgical Technology, Central Services Technology, Sterile Processing, Allied Health Sciences or a related 30 unit certification program with relevant coursework in sterile processing procedures,
AND five (5) years of professional experience in a sterile processing or operating room procedures, two (2) years of which was in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Knowledge of:

Principles and processes of supervision, staff development, organization, administration, fiscal and program management and administrative record-keeping methods;

Principles and applications of a hospital information system(s) as it relates to sterile processing;

Types and uses of: detergents, enzymatic, lubricants, and environmental disinfectants;

Processing equipment's function and operation (e.g. washer decontaminator, washer/sterilizer, ultrasonic cleaner):

Manufacturers' instructions for equipment and/or medical device (MSDS guidelines for all staff);
