Introduction
William Rowland Ltd (WR) is a metal trading, processing and distribution business, operating in the Revert and Refined metals sector with a turnover of £50m.
WR trades and distributes a wide range of high purity metals, alloys and metal powders to customers globally, from facilities in Tankersley (J36, M1) and Birmingham and is wholly owned by London based Amalgamated Metal Corporation Plc.
The growing aerospace, energy, IGT, foundry and petro-chemicals markets are WR’s key end user sectors.
WR is looking to expand via new product development and exports with a particular emphasis on speciality alloy scraps.

Role
Exciting opportunities exist for both full-time Special Metals & Alloys sorters and operatives. The successful candidates must have a strong background in processing and/or sorting Special/Exotic Scrap/Revert Metals with a minimum of 3 years experience.
Responsibilities & Duties
The candidate will ultimately be responsible for the processing, sorting/grading & out-turning of all the incoming materials.
Knowledge & understanding of the varying “end use” markets for the materials is essential and experience of segregating materials on a quality & contamination basis for these markets is highly desirable.
The candidate must have experience in the recognition, identification and reporting of special metal contamination within the materials that may include, foreign attachments/coatings/inserts/tips & repair welds.
Knowledge & use of XRF hand-held analysers is essential.
Position may require shift working.
The candidate will ultimately report to the production manager.
Strong written, organisational and IT skills are a must for this role.
Operatives will have extensive experience of using a multitude of processing equipment such as shears, guillotines, bandsaws, shot blasters, shredders and where applicable chemical cleanings of turnings.
Some travel may be required in short intervals and a Full Passport may be required for the role (this can be applied for upon initial employment)
Qualifications
The successful candidate desirably will have 3 GCSEs at grade C and above.
A Metallurgical/Materials Qualification would be ideal but is not essential.
Experience in the sector is essential due to the necessity to operate safely in the environment.
