The service is located at 98 Cudworth Street, Bethnal Green, E1 5QU. 10 minutes walk from Bethnal Green/White chapel tube station and 1 minute walk from Bethnal Green over ground. The office entrance is from Barnsley street, which is the next street behind Cudworth street.
Tower Hamlets Rehab Service offers an intensive mental health residential rehabilitation service for eleven men and women over 18 years of age, with severe and enduring mental needs within Tower Hamlets. The service provides support to two cohorts of customers. 6 of the customers in the short term service receive rehabilitative treatment for up to a two year period, and 5 in the long term service receive treatment for up to a five year period.
As part of the contract we work in partnership with clinicians from East London Foundation Trust in providing a specialist clinical input to our customers. The support is coordinated through a formal partnership between Rehab support staff and Bethnal Green Community Mental Health Team in Tower Hamlets. This partnership enables each customer to access support through skilled, dedicated, on-site support staff provision as well as the full resource range of a multi-disciplinary, clinical team.
The Service provides 24/7 across 365 days with 2 staff availability at all times. You will be part of a support staff of eight. Shifts take place over three long days 8-10pm and includes one hour break.
The Rehab service prides itself with ongoing clinical input through weekly clinical meetings with Consultant Psychiatrist and other clinicians as well as the team having regular reflective group sessions with a Clinical Psychologist facilitating the group. It also offers an opportunity to work and learn in a recently awarded outstanding quality service.
We are seeking a highly motivated and good team player and the ideal candidate will be passionate about working with vulnerable adults with mental health needs.
This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.
What you’ll do:
CORE ROLES
- Help customers move in- Carry out induction
- Shadow Specialist Support Workers carry out day responsibility on shift
- Assist and join in key work sessions
- Assist customers with appointment and activities
- Engage customers into activities or groups in the community
- Help customers make phone calls
- Sleep in shifts and Shift leading
- Prompt and witness medication
- Liaise with CMHT, Care-coordinator, GP’s and relatives etc.
- Completing DCR’s, SCS, and Incident and Accident reports within 24hrs of the contact made
- Feeding everything back to the team
- Help customers and service with shopping
- Being there for customers, listening, and having a chat as agreed in individual local protocol
- Update yourself with e-mails
- Research how customers can meet or achieve their goals and aspirations in a practical way
- Help to keep the office tidy and set up for meetings
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
- Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
- Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
- Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
- Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible
- Adhere to Look Ahead’s Policies and Procedures
- Engage in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
- Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned

- Participate in joint assessments
- Assist with support planning and risk assessments
- Take part in exit interviews and discharge meetings
- Helping with induction of new colleagues

What you’ll bring:
Essential:
- Up to NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sector
Desirable:
- Experience working in mental health
