Job Description

Job Title: Head of Health and Wellbeing

Salary: £30,000-£32,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours of work: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (flexible hours and working location is an option for the right candidate). You will be expected to work a minimum of 37.25 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks. The role may include evening and weekend hours.

Contractual Status: Full time / Permanent

Purpose of the job: Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRCT) is the award-winning independent charitable arm of founding member of the EFL and the Premier League - Blackburn Rovers FC. Using the brand of Blackburn Rovers FC and the power of football and sport for positive social change, we are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, compassionate, approachable, dynamic Head of Health and Wellbeing.

This exciting new role will have three primary objectives:

1. Establish and manage a new Health and Wellbeing Hub at Ewood Park.

BRCT has been successful in securing funding to establish football’s first Health and Wellbeing Hub to be based at an English professional football team’s stadium. . The post-holder will use the current and refurbished community facilities to support the recovery of those with mental health concerns - using Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust’s (LSCFT) ‘stepping up and stepping down’ model to achieve our objectives. The successful postholder will be tasked to establish new partnerships with like-minded organisations who will be granted access to use these facilities (alongside our own health and wellbeing programmes) to help increase the number of positive outcomes for those with mental health concerns. The postholder will be expected to monitor and showcase the impact of the Heath and Wellbeing Hub.

2. Create a new Health and Wellbeing Strategy

Lead on writing a new and inclusive five-year Health and Wellbeing strategy for BRCT on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Team - building on the impressive work already delivered by our charity.

3. Grow and sustain BRCT's Health and Wellbeing Offer

To develop, grow and sustain BRCT’s Health and wellbeing team through positive workforce development and to identify and access new grants/funds to help support our new five-year Health and Wellbeing strategy, ensuring that it is successful by positively impacting on local people’s lives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management

The post holder will:

Provide direct line management and inspirational leadership for Health and Wellbeing staff, leading to an empowered and motivated workforce.

Identify local partners whose clients would gain increased benefit if part of their services were delivered from a professional football club stadium – focusing on organisations who support those with a moderate to server mental health conditions.

Identify and work with key stakeholders locally and nationally, ensuring strong and effective relationships, whilst identifying new partnership opportunities to increase BRCT’s work and visibility.

Take a lead role in ensuring that the Health and Wellbeing Hub facilities run to an exceptional standard, offering the highest level of customer satisfaction, ensuring effective usage and maintenance plans are delivered.

Write, develop and implement a workable strategic vision for the health and wellbeing, complimenting the overarching strategy of BRCT and the local health agenda.

Monitor the development and effectiveness of BRCT’s Health and Wellbeing strategic vision, linking staff objectives and supervision to help meet organisation priorities.

Manage, develop and deliver BRCT’s portfolio of health and wellbeing projects in collaboration with local and national partners, in line with funding guidelines and requirements.  report on a quarterly basis to the Board of Trustees and at any other time as required by the organisation or funding partners.

Undertake every opportunity to promote a positive image of the BRCT and Blackburn Rovers FC.

Showcase our charity’s values, always be a positive role model and set standards for other members of staff to follow.

Operations

The post holder will:

Build relationships and liaise with partners across a range of health organisations including, but not exclusive to, the NHS, GPs, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, community groups, schools, sports clubs and service providers from the public and private sector, ensuring that suitable progression pathways (‘Stepping Up and Stepping Down’) are available for participants.

Line manage the Health and Wellbeing team of staff to ensure a clear performance monitoring system is in place and consistent, including setting performance targets and monitoring their achievements.

Ensure there is adequate staffing cover for all health and wellbeing projects and communicate effectively with the organisation’s Head of Community Engagement and Head of Operations.

Ensure the Health and Wellbeing Hub complies with statutory regulations, legislation, codes of practice as well as risk assessment protocol as set out by BRCT and Blackburn Rovers FC.

Be responsible for carrying out regular checks relating to statutory maintenance and health and safety, ensuring accurate logging records are complete and filed.

Ensure that all staff are aware of their Health and Safety responsibilities and in the delegation of duties as well as ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to meet reasonable health and safety compliance.

Deliver health project sessions as part of the Health and Wellbeing staff team as and when required.

Direct an effective and efficient timetable for the health and wellbeing programmes factoring in staff annual leave.

Attend targeted local health forums/meetings, as and when required by the organisation or funders.

Work alongside Blackburn Rovers FC operational departments to ensure a joined-up approach across the whole Football Club.

Ensure a clear delivery and operational CPD programme is developed, monitored and evaluated for all staff and volunteers.

Ensure all grant funded projects meet the requirements in terms of achieving objectives and targets, in line with applications and development plans.

Ensure delivery is high quality and value for money across all programmes and measure this through an ongoing monitoring system.

Ensure that the charity’s health and safety, equal opportunities, child protection and vulnerable adults safeguarding policies represent best practice and are adhered to in all aspects of the charity’s activities.

When required, provide cover and assistance for other staff across all areas that the Community Trust operates. This cover may extend to attending meetings, conferences, workshops, holiday hunger programmes and events if required.

Report regularly to the Executive Team and Board of Trustees on all aspects of health and wellbeing within BRCT.

Finance

The post holder will:

Support the CEO, Head of Finance, People and Policy and the Head of Community Engagement with compiling and monitoring annual operational departmental budgets, whilst supporting future financial planning.

Continuously review annual budget forecasts alongside project managers that create and clear and robust monitoring system.

Data, Insight and Impact

The post holder will:

Support project managers to develop ambitious but realistic KPIs and outcomes indicators tailored to individual project aims and objectives and to track progress against these.

Develop quantitative and qualitative tools to support the measurement of project outcomes and impact, and to gain participant feedback on their engagement with the BRCT health and wellbeing projects.

General Responsibilities

The post holder will:

Contribute to creating a positive working and learning environment

Carry out any other matters referred by the CEO or Community Engagement for specific attention.
