Job Description

Introduction to the role


The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has a vacancy within its Communications team, reporting to the Head of Communications, which encompasses a wide variety of external communications and digital marketing delivery.


You will bring your expertise to bear generating digital content, partnering with the business to understand their key goals with a view to mapping out communications campaigns that align with those. These campaigns have an integral role to play in assisting the market to navigate the ongoing period of significant change and digitisation being experienced.


The role will involve feeding into strategic projects, where there will be the potential opportunity to be involved in research.


This position provides scope to bring new ideas to the fore in relation to advertising and promoting forthcoming Academy Programmes and to have involvement in the production of video content to raise the profile of LMA initiatives, such as our Wordings Trainee scheme. Alongside the opportunity to assist in the production of podcasts; as an example, the LMA has produced a series focusing on the day in the life of a Claims Adjuster, Claims Broker and Delegated Claims Administrator.


Introduction to the Lloyd’s Market Association


The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) exists at the very heart of Lloyd's, a world-leading global marketplace for complex risk where solutions to challenges are delivered every day. All 51 Lloyd's managing agencies, with a total market stamp capacity of approximately £48bn in 2023, and all Lloyd's members' agents, are members of the LMA.


We represent our members' interests to organisations including governments, regulators, and the market's central supporting body, the Corporation of Lloyd's. We provide professional and technical expertise in areas ranging from model policy wordings to the implementation of innovative technologies. We connect with our members to identify and resolve issues facing the market, and work in partnership with Lloyd's and the other market associations to influence initiatives and outcomes. We operate the market's most comprehensive technical education service, the LMA Academy.


Job Purpose


The Communications Executive role requires an individual with a keen willingness to collaborate within a team environment, working across a number of internal teams and with our external members.


You will be responsible for ensuring an excellent member experience by providing the delivery of external communications, ensuring the LMA’s activities are communicated effectively and accessible with the aim of raising the LMA’s profile.


Key Accountabilities


  • Responsible for generating content for the LMA’s main inbound marketing channel ‘Insights’ by managing a schedule of digital content e.g. technical blogs, short videos, podcasts, social media, etc that reflect and promote the main LMA objectives.
  • Providing assistance to internal teams to deliver Bulletins and e-newsletters to relevant audiences.
  • Responsible for the LMA website, keeping it current and up-to-date. Making enhancements as required so it provides valuable information resource for our members.
  • Responsible for the development, execution and measurement of the young professionals’ strategy, including identifying and implementing initiatives to ensure that new joiners and young professionals are engaged in the activities of the LMA and its communities.
  • Providing support and guidance to employees on communications strategies in a well written and timely manner to ensure that messaging is effective and reaches the right audiences.
  • Assisting with monitoring and analysing communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of external communication efforts and identify areas for improvement
  • Delivering inductions to new employees on the role of Communications and providing training as needed.
  • Identifying opportunities to initiate new LMA projects to the advantage of LMA’s membership and, where appropriate, lead and drive such projects.
  • Building good working relationships with external stakeholders e.g. Lloyd’s, other market associations, communications peers and other key stakeholders.
  • Keeping up to date with new channels and technology relating to communications.
  • Responding to LMA member (and other relevant) enquiries/requests for assistance in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of initiatives and developments within the LMA, Lloyd’s, and other key areas of the market.
  • Finally, and in addition to the above key requirements, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the LMA may reasonably require.

Person Specification


Education and Qualifications


  • The role requires individuals of graduate or A-level calibre.
  • Marketing and or Communications related degree or diploma (e.g. CIM, CAM or CIPR) would be beneficial however not a prerequisite.

General skills / Qualities


  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to present ideas clearly, concisely and with confidence.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Ideally bringing demonstrable experience in proof reading to a good standard.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships and influence others at all levels internally and externally, being flexible in approach and having the courage to challenge when appropriate.
  • Displays a resilient and adaptable style, responding positively and adapting to changing demands, objectives and priorities.
  • Comfortable taking ownership for work, prioritising and completing work to appropriate deadlines, whilst working effectively within a team.

Experience


  • Proven experience in a communications or marketing role.
  • Previous experience of working in financial/insurance sector, ideally gained within the London insurance market, desirable yet not essential.
  • Video and podcast production and editing process experience advantageous.
  • Any experience of google analytics, photoshop, InDesign website editing software, e-marketing software and CRM systems would be beneficial yet not essential.

Knowledge


  • Knowledge of the main written and digital communications channels.
  • An understanding of outbound and inbound marketing.
  • Content marketing.
