Electrical Project Supervisor

The Electrical Project Supervisor is a hybrid role and is the site contact point to deal with all the relevant: Health and safety, site management & Quality control. Supervising diverse site teams and construction sites with values circa £100K to £1 million Plus.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible to ensure site Quantity management of CBS contractors is undertaken and maintained throughout the construction phase & documented accordingly , instigating corrective actions as required.
  • Accountable for implementing site daily tasks and duties as required in line with Project Requirements.
  • Accountable for the care of the site deliveries - stock check, correct storage, documentation check.
  • At site level check of materials and identifying any back orders or damaged equipment and liaise with suppliers as required.
  • Responsible to ensure Good housekeeping of all site specific Centrica plant, equipment and materials to keep site safe for personnel.
  • Responsible and accountable for Up keep of plant including regular servicing, pat testing, plant pre use checks, Project delivery system checks, Calibration checks, and site records.
  • Consulted and advise on the change of owner transfer notification document for client and plant on site.
  • Consulted and advise on identifying and reporting and Finance – variations costing & project costing.
  • Reporting information to your Project Managers regarding Early warning notices & request for information with the client.
  • Follow the business requirements for PPE, RAMS, E Learning, safety reporting and the Man down company procedure.
  • Competently carry out and amend dynamic risk assessment, RAMs and construction phase plans in a live work environment as required.
  • Responsibility to carry out TBT, Site inductions, Permits, statuary inspections audits, Daily briefs, quality control and quality assurance on site.
  • Ensure site operatives are compliant with CBS procedures and safety standards and stopping the works should there be failure of compliance putting safety at risk.
  • Report concise site update information in weekly site update to CBS management and clients.
  • Responsible for implementation of site communications to site personnel on project arrangements for the workforce: project working hours, breaks travel arrangements, project delivery timescales, daily safety information.
  • Responsible for collating and implementing site feedback regarding morale and how we/you can improve the working environment.
  • Responsible to carry out on site Commissioning quality control checks on CBS contractors and instigate corrective actions as required.
  • Consulted for pricing and costing in relation to live works and future works in a tendering environment in line with Project Management requirements.

Experience

  • An Electrical Project Supervisor must have experience as a Site Supervisor or equivalent or experience as an approved electrician or similar role capacity in charge of electrical installations of such complexity and dimension as to require wide technical experience and organisational ability.
  • Electrical Project Supervisors must have knowledge of the most economical and effective layout of electrical installations together with the ability to achieve a high level of productivity in the work that they control.
  • Leadership qualities to work on their own initiative and able to lead operatives in a live site environment.
  • Electrical Project Supervisors must be able to apply a thorough working knowledge of the National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, of the current I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations.
  • Confident use of IS system for use in the construction site environment and in preparation of essential project documents.
  • Skills in the use of project specific software e.g. MS project, Primavera.
  • Skills in Estimation software use to produce details project and costs and Scope of work.
  • Highly skills in interpretation of detailed complex construction drawings and documents and the ability to convey understanding to support site operatives.
  • Electrical skills for selection of materials and tools suitable for each activity.
  • Programe managements skills to work economically and achieve work completion to specific time scales.
  • Problem solving skills to support others to solve complex technical problems and engage with a range of other internal and external engineers to resolve.
  • Development of other electricians and site personnel to improve their knowledge in a broad range of technical and behavioral aspects.
  • Experience of working on commercial and industrial sites where there are significant financial, safety and time impacts.
  • Accountable for the supervision of all site personal under their CDM responsibilities.
  • Responsibility and accountability to carry competent inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrical installation of their site or a CBS contractor site as required.
  • Responsibility, Competence, skills and qualification to complete the relevant NICEIC and CBS documentation.
  • Responsible for the on-site quality assurance to identify and rectify non-compliance and record audit outputs and actions.
  • A thorough working knowledge of the National Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, of the current I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations, of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Electricity Supply Regulations, Installations (i.e. Regulations 22-29 inclusive and 31), of any Regulations dealing with Consumers’ installations which may be issued, relevant British Standards and codes of practice, and of the Construction Industry Safety Regulations.

Education and Certifications

  • Must have obtained an NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work (or approved equivalent).
  • Must hold a current SMSTS qualification and certificate.
  • Must hold a current site First Aider certificate.
  • Must have demonstrated competence and obtained a suitable qualification (the City & Guilds 2391 is a suitable qualification) in the inspection, testing, commissioning, and certification of electrical installations.
