The West Yorkshire Climate and Environment Plan 2021 – 2024 sets the commitment to accelerate the deployment of electric vehicle charging points across the region, focusing on ensuring equity in provision. It is vital to ensure a comprehensive and accessible network is established to facilitate the smooth transition to electric vehicles for a cleaner and greener West Yorkshire.

We are looking to appoint two Project Managers to the Transport Projects team, within the Transport Policy and Delivery directorate, and play a key role in supporting the Combined Authority achieving its aim to deliver an effective and accessible EV charging point network.
The Transport Project team lead the direct delivery of transport infrastructure projects on behalf of the Combined Authority, working closely with a range of stakeholders including district partners, statutory bodies, and private sector developers. The team have a diverse portfolio of projects which currently includes the delivery of new and upgraded bus and rail stations across the region including the new White Rose rail station and the redevelopment of Halifax Bus Station, both of which are due to complete on site later this year.

The Role

Reporting into the Senior Project Manager, the key responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Manage the development of business cases, undertaking specific technical works and managing works within agreed tolerances.
  • Manage the delivery of the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme which will co-ordinate and deliver electric vehicle infrastructure across the region
  • Budgetary planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial control.
  • Preparation of briefs, reports, press releases and communications.
working closely with partners to manage the procurement, appointment and management of an operator to run the charge point network.

About you

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

  • Relevant Professional Qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, RICS, ICE, IHT, APM, CIOB) or equivalent practical experience of project management
  • Experience of prioritising, planning and organising workloads to manage expectations and deadlines.
  • Experience of working in partnership with stakeholders including political members, suppliers, public and private organisations and residents.
  • Proven experience of confidently and professionally conveying information both written and oral in a clear, concise and persuasive style.
