Business Development Associate


We are looking for someone ready to take the next step in their career and is striving to create a successful career in Business Development. This role will support the Sero team and our social housing landlord partners through our continued growth journey. This role is a great fit for someone with an understanding of residential energy efficiency, social housing and/or technology in addition to the passion and skill for building new and maintaining current partnerships.


What we’ll be asking you to do…



Reporting to our Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for supporting our Business Development Managers to identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities with social housing landlords based on inbound and self-generated leads. Our partners are incredibly important to us, and you will be passionate about providing a high-quality service throughout the whole customer journey.


We’ll be asking you to work closely with our knowledgeable team, shadowing our experts to become comfortable with the uniqueness of Sero’s offerings in order to provide the best experience when discussing the value of our products and services to partners.


You will represent Sero at a range of sector events across the UK as well as during business communication with key stakeholders at every level whilst co-ordinating important meetings and information.


What we would like from you (please!) …


To be successful in the job straight away you will need:


Knowledge in at least one of the following areas; Energy Efficiency, Social Housing, Tech for good
Some experience in sales, business development or recruitment fields
Excellent networking and relationship building capabilities
Demonstrably high levels of communication in a range of formats including the ability to explain complex data to a range of audiences
To enjoy working in a data and customer experience driven team
Experience drafting and creating proposals
Ability to work independently and be a self-starter


It would be great (but not essential!) if you also had:


A good understanding of ESG, Sustainability technology/housing and carbon market trends
Knowledge of residential property development or building retrofit
An active network of contacts in social housing

Permanent: We're a growing SME and see this role as a permanent member of our growing team. We’ve got lots of plans up our sleeves for exciting new things!


Working Hours: We're looking for about 37.5 hours per week for this role – what would generally be called Full Time. How that breaks into days or a working pattern is up to you.

Working Times: Our policy allows working anywhere at any time, ultimate flexibility. We'd like at least some of your working hours to be coordinated with other internal and external team members to ensure we're being efficient and communicating effectively. We think work should fit your lifestyle, so you can work when you can be most efficient.


Location: We have an office based in Cardiff but every member of the Sero team has the option to work remotely, full time or part-time, depending on role and responsibility. For this particular role we would ideally like to see you in the Cardiff office around twice a month and should also be happy with regular travelling when visiting clients. We’re fully set up for virtual working and will work and support you in which works best for your work life balance.


Salary: We’re budgeting up to £35,000 per annum for this role with opportunity to progress. This also depends on what we agree between us your preferred weekly total hours.
