Job overview

Band 5 Physiotherapist (Rotational) across QMC and City Hospital sites.
We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic physiotherapists to join our well established band 5 Physiotherapy rotation at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We are a friendly, welcoming department working as NUH Therapies, alongside our colleagues in occupational therapy and dietetics.

This is a fantastic opportunity to advance and consolidate knowledge and skills across a variety of acute clinical settings. The role is suitable for 2023 graduates as well as those with previous working experience.

Main duties of the job

As a large acute teaching hospital over two sites, NUH has a wide range of fantastic opportunities for staff to start and to develop their careers in healthcare. We have achieved a national and international reputation for many of our specialist services including stroke, renal, neurosciences, cancer services, major trauma and cystic fibrosis.

You will be based in a busy, acute care hospital providing physiotherapy care across both campuses, including participation on weekend and overnight on-call rotas (following appropriate training). You will need excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own caseload while working within a supportive team.

Working for our organisation

Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.

Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.

We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

We’ve made a clear commitment to our patients and staff that ‘We Listen, We Care’. We will do all we can to ensure our patients get the best possible care we can give them.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In addition to the summary below you need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification documents attached to this advert

The band 5 physiotherapy rotation offers a great opportunity to gain breadth and depth of experience working alongside specialist staff, as well as a solid grounding in the core specialties of respiratory, neurology, healthcare of the elderly and musculoskeletal care. Some of the more unusual rotations include: Nottingham Shoulder and Elbow Unit, Linden Lodge (neuro-rehabilitation unit), burns and plastics, The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis centre and pelvic health.

We offer all newly-qualified staff a preceptorship programme to support them in their transition from newly registered professional to competent practitioner. Other opportunities for development include well established in-service training programmes, competency packages, access to funding for CPD courses as well as a comprehensive suite of NUH in-house courses and access to clinical supervision.

You will need to have full HCPC registration (or be due to apply for it) and some experience of working in an acute hospital setting would be a distinct advantage. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal Records Check prior to an offer of employment being made.
