The Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) for the North East North Cumbria (NENC) is delighted to advertise an exciting new opportunity for two Project Managers to join the Economic Growth Team whose predominant roles will be to support innovators in navigating The Innovation Pathway and Health Innovation landscape.
The Innovation Pathway is the means by which the AHSN NENC articulates the bespoke support we offer to innovators in helping them to develop, evaluate and commercialise their innovations for adoption by the NHS. Much of this tailored support is provided by the AHSN NENC team but depending on the nature of support required we may commission one of our regional innovation ecosystem delivery partners to deliver the bespoke support needed e.g. the commissioning of a real-world evaluation.
Overview of the role
Over the last few years, the AHSN NENC has seen significant growth in its vast economic growth portfolio of work that is delivered at regional and national levels. To service this increasing demand an exciting opportunity has emerged for two new Project Managers to join the expanding Economic Growth Team, whose predominant role will be to support innovators to navigate The Innovation Pathway and Health Innovation landscape in accelerating the successful adoption and spread of their innovation into the NHS for the benefit of patients.

Reporting to the Associate Director - Economic Growth, the Project Managers will be required to foster excellent relationships with innovators and manage multiple concurrent innovation projects

Job Title: Project Manager
Salary: Starting from £34,930 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience).

Introduction
The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria Limited (AHSN NENC) is one of fifteen AHSNs set up with the aim of spreading innovation at pace and scale across the healthcare system, in order to achieve the ultimate goals of improving health and generating economic growth. The AHSN NENC is structured into four divisions which are Digital, Economic Growth, Health Improvement and the Patient Safety Collaborative, who deliver range of innovative and high impact projects on behalf of our Commissioners, NHS England, the Government’s Office for Life Sciences and our Member Organisations.
The AHSN NENC is a membership-based organisation which include local Foundation Trusts, local universities and the NENC Integrated Care Board. As part of the services that we provide to our Member Organisations, we support the identification, harvesting, protection, commercialisation, adoption, and dissemination of healthcare innovation originating from within their organisations.
The AHSN NENC is predominately funded by NHS England and The Office for Life Sciences and its regional Member Organisations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Innovation Pathway Support & Relationship Management
· Provide bespoke support to Innovators in navigating the Innovation Pathway to accelerate the development, evaluation and adoption of their innovation (whether it be a product, service, or clinical pathway)
· Lead and project manage a range of concurrent innovation projects liaising with the relevant members of the AHSN NENC team when necessary
· Foster productive relationships with assigned innovators, ensuring the appropriate legal agreements are in place clearly defining deliverables, milestones, and outcomes, and review quarterly progress reports to track delivery and authorise milestone payments where relevant
· Ensure the AHSN NENC systems and tools are used on a daily basis (i.e. Omnia, Access, Verto365, Proactis) to ensure relevant project data is captured, evidenced, and reported to demonstrate progress and return on investment for the AHSN NENC
· Play a key role in completing the AHSN NENC’s quarterly reporting process to our national and regional commissioners
· Mobilise the AHSN NENC procurement process in commissioning innovation delivery partner support when needed
· Ensure that all aspects of the Programme and Projects meet and support our local stakeholders' needs whilst also delivering our national commissions
· Works to achieve agreed objectives and is given the freedom to work under own initiative
Communications Management
· Work alongside the AHSN NENC Communications Team to assist with the generation of high quality marketing and communications materials including case studies, and the delivery of key Work Programme information. This will include the generation of reports and information leaflets, and webpage support, as well as the preparation and delivery of presentations
· Engage effectively with key audiences through the participation in events, networking, and attendance at meetings
· Required to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information to develop project plans and associated documentation and for planning and monitoring purposes.
Information Resources
· Use the AHSN NENC project management framework to create and maintain up to date project plans in Verto365 Use the Omnia and Access databases to record all customer engagements
· Produce routine and ad hoc reports on project progress and issues as required
General
· Organise meetings, set agendas, chair/participate in, and document minutes/actions as required
· Deputise and provide cover for absences within the Team, as and when appropriate
· The AHSN NENC is a relatively small company and as such most staff carry out their own administrative tasks including elements of clerical work, communications, finance, and HR, in a shared and reactive fashion. There is an expectation that staff are comfortable with this
