Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Safer Handling Team as a Safer Handling Trainer working within the Directorate of Education, Research and Innovation (DERI).

We are looking for a dynamic self-starter to support the implementation of our moving and handling strategy. You will be instrumental in the development of the service, providing advice, support and training directly to colleagues across all of our Trust sites.

This is a challenging role which requires someone who has a passion for education and moving and handling. In return, we can offer you support and opportunities to develop your career with ongoing training for you to learn and develop your teaching and assessing skills as well as keeping up to date with evidence based moving and handling knowledge.

You will deliver Safer Handling training across multi-professional groups within the Trust, to ensure they are safe, competent, and compliant with current legislation, national and local guidelines.

You may currently be in a Key Trainer role or have experience in patient and load moving and handling practice. It is essential to have experience of delivering teaching sessions, and an enthusiastic interest in the safe practice of moving and handling. If you do not currently hold a Moving and Handling training qualification, you will be expected to achieve this within the first year in post. Full support and funding will be provided by the Trust.

At ELHT, we have reputation for high quality innovative service delivery underpinned by skilled and motivated staff.

Investment in innovation, multi professional education and research is vital to improving the delivery and quality of patient care. As such, DERI is dedicated to educating, training and developing our current and future workforce to support the vision of providing safe, personal and effective care.

To support this vision, the Education Business Support Service works across the Education and Simulation Centres of the Royal Blackburn and Burnley General Teaching Hospitals, providing colleagues through induction and skills development with a range of high quality and responsive education resources and business services:

An informal visit is highly recommended for you to fully appreciate the work of DERI.
