Job overview

The opening of the two new Community Diagnostic Centres at Ely and Wisbech presents an exciting opportunity for the role of Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse. Your main responsibilities will include leading, developing, and coordinating a multidisciplinary team at the CDCs.

The primary aim of the centres is to meet the increasing demand for diagnostics by providing local residents with easier access to a wide range of elective diagnostic services outside of acute hospital facilities. This approach will help alleviate the pressure on hospitals, offer quicker access to tests, and enhance convenience for patients.

As the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse you will have a crucial role in ensuring clinical governance and risk management across the CDCs; additionally you will also act as the deputy for the matron. This position affords you the opportunity to lead the delivery of high-quality and responsive services resulting in a better and more personalised experience for patients while also supporting the integration of care within the community.

In this role you will serve as a champion for patient safety, operational effectiveness, and quality. You will embody the core values of the NHS and work towards ensuring exceptional healthcare for patients. Your leadership and expertise will contribute to the overall success of the Community Diagnostic Centres and their ability to provide accessible and efficient diagnostic services to the local community.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for all aspects of clinical governance and risk management within the clinical service.

To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, ensuring a visible presence across the service.

To work in partnership to contribute to the development and growth of the Community Diagnostic Centres and the evolving service requirements.

To deputise for the outpatient matron in their absence.
