General overview: Works as an integral member of the Marketing, Philanthropy, and Communications team supporting internal/external communications, public relations, marketing, and volunteer engagement.
BAMSI is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization founded in Brockton, Massachusetts, with a vision of driving change and creating equal opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental and behavioral health challenges. Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. (BAMSI) was incorporated on March 21, 1975 as South Shore Multi-Services Inc., under Chapter 180 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as a not-for-profit human service organization. On July 9, 1975, it changed its name to Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc. It was formed for the development, coordination, and delivery of integrated human service programs, and according to its website, its mission is “to empower people and enrich their lives, through compassionate support and diverse services, one individual, one family a time.” BAMSI employees up to 2,000 people and operates adult, child, and family services, assisting approximately 30,000 individuals each year in Worcester, Middlesex, Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth Counties.

Responsibilities:
- Write a variety of engaging content to support communications and marketing efforts, including social media and blog posts, newsletters, website copy, print collateral and press releases.
- Support BAMSI’s social media strategy, including content creation/posting posts and analyzing campaign effectiveness.
- Oversee bamsi.org, including SEO strategy.
- Support an established communications strategy designed to further BAMSI’s brand objectives.
- Coordinate clear, effective communication across BAMSI, ensuring consistency of messaging and maximizing distribution, while eliminating duplicative/irrelevant communication to specific audiences.
- Proactively establish and cultivate relationships with community partners and media outlets.
- Coordinate with divisions/departments to support the planning and execution of program level events.
- Actively, cultivate a spirit of volunteerism within BAMSI and with external partners, to foster interest and community involvement in BAMSI’s work.
- Ensure that volunteer engagement is well-managed and closely aligned with the organization’s community impact and strategic plan.
- Contribute to creating an effective team environment by being solution oriented; communicating with others in a professional and respectful manner; and fostering a positive culture.
- Complete all other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience maintaining/updating websites.
- Four or more years of experience in marketing or communications.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of traditional and internet marketing and communication principles.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills that enable you to adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, flexible and goal oriented.
- High level of resourcefulness. Should be a self-starter, ready to share ideas and work collaboratively.
- Attention to detail a must.
- Previous experience working with a nonprofit organization strongly preferred.
- Commitment to BAMSI’s mission and values.
