Overview

Our Product Team is growing as we write the next chapter in Mixbook history! We are seeking a Senior Product Art Designer, GenAI to contribute to our innovative line of photo book storytelling products. As a Product Art Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating visually captivating and personalized photo book designs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop unique storytelling concepts, technology products and bring them to life through stunning visual designs. This role requires a deep understanding of design principles, proficiency in graphic design software, and a passion for creating immersive visual narratives for printed products as well as future storytelling artifacts yet to be invented. Your innovative designs will help users create meaningful and visually compelling narratives that capture their memories and experiences in a truly personalized way.

Location & Remote Work Details

This is a US-based remote position with required quarterly travel to the Bay Area.

Job Description

Mixbook is looking for a phenomenal Senior Product Art Designer to shape the future of how we remember and visualize our memories. We are building new creative experiences and artifacts to relive and share memories with GenAI-powered storytelling artifacts, tools and technologies. This key role will be involved in every aspect of the product design process from exploring Mixbook's next mind-blowing innovation to iterating/improving/refining ideas driven by insights from research, user testing and data analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with product managers, script writers, data scientists, and software engineers to conceptualize and develop innovative photo book storytelling products driven by artificial intelligence.
  • Design and create visually stunning and personalized photo book layouts using GenAI technology, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning techniques to curate and arrange images in a visually compelling and meaningful way.
  • Develop unique storytelling concepts and translate them into captivating visual narratives that effectively communicate emotions, memories, and experiences.
  • Research and stay updated on the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, graphic design, and storytelling techniques to enhance product innovation and user experience.
  • Select appropriate typography, color schemes, and graphic elements to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal and narrative coherence of the photo book designs.
  • Collaborate with content creators and photographers to ensure that the photo book designs effectively showcase their work and capture the essence of the story being told.
  • Iterate and refine design concepts based on feedback from internal teams and user testing, continuously improving the quality and impact of the storytelling products.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to brand guidelines throughout the design process, maintaining a cohesive visual identity across all photo book products.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure the seamless integration of design elements and GenAI technology into the final product.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 8-10 years of overall work experience with at least 6+ years of experience in visual design
  • Proven experience as a visual Designer with a portfolio that demonstrates visual storytelling design skills
  • Proficiency in industry-standard graphic design software such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and familiarity with AI-driven design tools.
  • Deep understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, and composition.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence technologies, including machine learning and data visualization, is highly desirable.
  • Strong artistic and visual sense, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to create compelling and emotionally resonant visual narratives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey design concepts and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and transform it into engaging visual stories.
  • Familiarity with photo book production processes, including printing and binding, is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, tools, and design trends in the AI and graphic design fields.
  • A passion for storytelling, photography, and leveraging technology to create unique and immersive user experiences.
