Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 (Actual compensation is commensurate with job related knowledge, skills, experience, etc.)

Overview

This role is for a New York City based position on the RUBICONSmartCity team. RUBICONSmartCity is a technology suite that helps local governments and private companies run more efficient, effective, and sustainable operations. A software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering designed for fleet vehicles – solid waste, snowplows, street sweepers, etc. – this full-service solution can be deployed across virtually any fleet to help reduce costs, improve service, and contribute to an enhanced quality of life for citizens.

RUBICONSmartCity sells software to local government agencies, government contractors, and commercial businesses. As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for generating new business by facilitating the sale of RUBICONSmartCity and its associated products to local governments and private hauling, sweeping, and snow removal companies in the United States and Canada. You will be responsible for presenting live, curated demonstrations to key stakeholders in these organizations and becoming the primary technical expert for the duration of the sales lifecycle. You will consult with customers on RUBICONSmartCity to evangelize its solutions that will help them reach their goals. You will contribute to the Smart City Team’s business growth in a fast paced, collaborative, and fun atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a mastery of our product suite, including the ability to answer technical questions from customers in real-time.
  • Deliver detailed technical demonstrations of our product, in-person and via webinar, to customers around the US, and around the world.
  • Support our Partnerships Development team as they pursue revenue goals.
  • Support and partner with our Product Development team by communicating customer feedback, contributing product ideas, and staying up to date on product enhancements, bug fixes, and the overall product roadmap.
  • Support the Customer Success Team by providing creative solutions to customer problems.
  • Provide feedback from customers and post-sales support where necessary.
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Promote the company's products/services addressing or predicting clients' objectives.
  • Conduct analysis on our product's usage to support strategic goals and ad-hoc requests from customers.
  • Travel to meet customers and demonstrate our products as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Engineering Team to develop and enhance new sales demos, strategies, and content.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, business, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous roles in product or application development, sales, or technical sales support, ideally in a SaaS environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Technology-savvy – experience, understanding, and familiarity with SaaS technology, REST APIs, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Interest in AVL, Fleet, GIS and Routing technologies.
  • Experience with data analysis, including business intelligence software (e.g. PowerBI).
  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation skills via phone, online and in person.
  • Demonstrated time management and planning skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a passion for cities preferred.
  • Experience in customer support is a plus.
