The Global Early Careers team within our Recruitment function is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and onboarding for 3 early talent programmes: Graduate Development Programme, Intern/Industrial Placement Programme, Apprentice Programme. These programmes seek to attract and develop high quality talent to meet the short term and long-term business needs of an ever-changing energy industry.


As a Manager within the Early Careers team, you get to be part of helping National Grid find critical early talent and to help us accomplish our key mission to bring energy to life. Reporting to the Director, Global Early Careers Recruitment, you’ll be responsible for leading the strategy for UK Early Careers Graduate & Student recruitment, attracting, hiring, and engaging the next generation of leaders while positioning National Grid as an employer of choice. You’ll lead a team of recruiters as they deliver on recruiting for our UK Graduate Development Programme, Intern Programme & Industrial Placements.


This is a hybrid role with some in person work required. Your main office can be any of the following locations depending on your preference: Warwick, GB or London, GB.

What you'll do

  • Lead the overall annual design of our UK Graduate & Student recruitment strategy and processes, identifying new initiatives, key deliverables and success metrics to meet business hiring needs
  • Manage a team of Early Careers recruiters, providing training and coaching while developing professional competencies and managing performance
  • Define and execute the diversity strategy for early careers, ensuring an inclusive and equitable process to increase the diversity of our talent pool and educating hiring managers on best practice
  • Drive proactive and targeted sourcing strategies, leveraging technology to optimize pipeline, increasing qualified applicant flow for all programs, and providing a superior candidate experience
  • Strategically execute creative and meaningful on campus and virtual engagements to grow brand awareness among student talent
  • Review metrics and sourcing strategies to assess success of the program and present key takeaways and recommendations for future campaigns
  • Maintain an understanding of the student recruiting landscape and share intelligence with key stakeholders
  • Fully understand National Grid’s Vision, Business Model, Employee Value Proposition, benefits, and total rewards philosophy to engage candidates and brand National Grid as an employer of choice for students and new graduates

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience within Recruitment/Talent Acquisition, preferably with experience managing a team
  • Strong knowledge of trends in the university recruiting market and Generation Z student needs
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate effectively to influence and engage both internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management and organisational skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple projects simultaneously while fostering a positive team culture
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail & follow up and exceptional time management
  • Ability to define, analyze and articulate key success metrics and results

What you'll get

A salary of £52k to £65k per annum - dependent on experience. Plus:
