The CMO will lead all Marketing efforts and drive growth for The Wine Group’s portfolio of wine brands. The CMO will have responsibility for driving the company’s overall marketing strategy, bringing more understanding to the customer journey, developing and leading a high-performance organization, and executing the marketing programs necessary to drive profitable growth and innovation.The CMO will oversee all aspects of the Marketing function including brand strategy, brand management, consumer insights, product innovation, advertising, digital marketing, public relations, and trade & shopper marketing. This executive must be considered a strategic advisor and partner to the Chief Revenue Officer and a leader who demonstrates a general management mindset.We are looking for an individual who has a combination of deep commercial and broad strategic insight. This individual must have highly developed leadership qualities and interpersonal skills. This individual must have the ability to work on critical strategic issues to facilitate the effective and profitable growth of the company. In addition, this executive must have the ability to quickly identify critical operating issues and drive positive results through a combination of strategic marketing analysis, innovative execution, and cross-functional teamwork. This individual must have demonstrated the ability to develop and nurture relationships throughout the organization and to work at the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors level. It is important that this executive be hands-on and function effectively in a lean headcount environment supported by systems and procedures.Previous broadening roles in sales, P&L management, or other functional commercial areas are viewed positively. The new Executive Vice President must be a risk-taker who has developed processes where none existed, as opposed to only having improved those already in place.Importantly, the executive must have demonstrated delivery of innovative marketing strategies and cutting-edge development and deployment of insights and analytics. The ideal candidate will be able to point to demonstrated, measurable experience driving enhanced marketing capability in a multi-cultural environment. Exceptional EQ and influencing skills are required.The ideal candidate will possess broad and deep marketing and business skills across the entire marketing mix, and proven success in building consumer-based brand positioning by managing a full complement of marketing functions, including brand management, research, customer segmentation, consumer insights, innovation/product/concept development, and advertising. It is expected that this leader will be fully versed in all aspects of digital, mobile, and social marketing.15+ years of business experience – Demonstrated success in leading the marketing function for a similar sized business or division within a larger company. Experience at a consumer products company is required, food or beverage manufacturing is preferred, and alcoholic beverage experience is viewed positively.Leadership and communication – A minimum of seven (7) years of leadership experience, including the demonstrated ability to help others succeed. The candidate must have the demonstrated ability to create a work environment that brings out the best in people, the ability to communicate to all levels within an organization, and the passion to learn all aspects of the business.Personal attributes – A desire to grow into a position beyond the EVP of Marketing position is expected.
