Nursery Manager - LEVEL 3+ in childcare required
Minimum - 5 years post qualification experience in childcare and 2 years minimum in a supervisory role in early years or similar service.

Responsible for: Deputy Manager, Early Year’s Practitioners, and other staff members
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours worked over 4.5 days
Probationary period: Six months
Job purpose:
· Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the nursery in accordance with the company’s framework and legal requirements, including children and family related issues, staffing, health and safety and general maintenance.
· To manage and sustain the highest standard of care and education for all children placed at Chapelfield Children’s Day Nursery
· To assist in ensuring that the nursery continues to meet the aims and objectives of the company in line with our vision statement and ethos and to encourage family and staff relationships within the Nursery.
· To support staff to provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and to maintain a safe, stimulating, and enjoyable environment.
· Be responsible for curriculum planning within the nursery provision, including staffing levels/ratios
· To ensure each child’s wellbeing and full potential is recognised and developed holistically.
· Promote excellent parent and staff relationships within the nursery
· To supervise and support all staff and students to achieve high standards of practice, always encouraging individual staff performance and development.
· To manage and sustain a high standard of care and education for all children placed in the setting
· To promote outstanding parent/carer and staff relationships within the Nursery and secure parental involvement
· Assist in developing aspects of the business including childcare practice, education, record keeping.
Staff Management
· Ensure safeguarding policy, procedures and guidance in accordance with local and national guidance/legislation are in place
· Create and maintain a working culture where all staff and students are able to raise concerns about poor or unsafe practice and have the concerns addressed in a sensitive and appropriate way
· Safeguarding – understand and adhere to the Chapelfield Nursery safeguarding policies and follow procedures to keep children safe and secure and ensure that others at nursery are adhering to the policy
· Ensure procedures for managing allegations and concerns raised about adults are in place, understood and followed in line with Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
· Recruit, induct, supervise and appraise all staff as appropriate and in accordance with policies and procedures, setting targets and development points, working with the management team.
· Carry out robust one to ones, supervision and appraisals to increase performance and staff morale within the setting
· Manage staff sickness to ensure nursery rooms meet the required ratio’s
· Work with staff to ensure the children’s care and education meets Chapelfield nursery’s high standards and follows statutory requirements;
- Ofsted regulations are met and recommendations are implemented following inspections
- EYFS statutory framework and welfare requirements
· Ensure effective management of the nursery to provide an appropriate environment for ensuring the well being and development of children in its care
· Carry out the supervision, direction and guidance of staff in group rooms relating to policy, practice and current legislation
· Meet regularly with staff to consider, plan and implement any changes in the children’s learning environment and development
· Monitor and encourage reflection on current practice whilst valuing practitioner’s contributions
· Participate in the development of consistent working practices designed to achieve a well motivated and effective staff team
Operational
· Promote the development of approaches to service delivery, responding to the needs of nursery users through consultation with parents/carers
· Support the staff to deliver a high quality service in accordance with Nursery policy and within the framework of budget constraints
· Observe the staff team to identify, organise and participating in staff training.
· Participate in the development of safe working practices designed to achieve a well motivated, effective and engaged staff team.
· Carry out effective deployment of human resources within the nursery to ensure all staff are given the opportunity to develop their experience across a diverse area
· Monitor the efficient and effective management of the nursery to provide an appropriate environment for ensuring the well being and development of children in its care
· Review and develop policies as part of the management team, ensuring that the company meets and exceeds legal and OFSTED requirements
· Encourage development of links with other local organisations/groups for under 5’s
· Attend meetings and ‘network’ with other companies/professionals where appropriate, as a representative of Chapelfield Children’s Day Nursery.
Health and Safety
· Safeguarding Policy and follow procedures to keep children safe and secure and ensure all staff are adhering to the policy:
· Ensure all staff, students and regular visitors are fully aware of the safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, including whistle blowing and allegations against staff and that these policies are reviewed and updated on an annual basis of in line with any changes to local or national guidance/legislation
· Ensure all staff adhere to all policies, procedures and risk assessments.
· Manage the health, cleanliness and safety of the children and their environment.
· Work with staff to promote the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards during care routines
· Ensure staff comply with the Staff Code of Conduct
· Demonstrate full awareness of all emergency and security procedures
· Assist in ensuring Policies and Procedures for Health and Safety, including all risk assessments requirements, Fire Procedures, COSHH and Safety Inspections are implemented in accordance with the Health and Safety Acts.
Business administration
· Promote Chapelfield nursery to ensure vacancies are filled and to run at full capacity where possible
· Carry out the Recruitment process including advertisement, interviews, and appointments of posts
· Be responsible for all administrative duties including child and family communications, waiting lists, allocation of places and sessions, introduction and involvement to Nursery life.
· Provide information and meetings for family inductions, office interviews, settling in visits, transitions through Nursery rooms, children’s transitions to school, parents evenings
· Liaise with local initiatives on behalf of the company, where appropriate, to support development of the staff team within nursery.
· Encourage development of links with other organisations/groups for under 5’s
· Attend meetings and to ‘network’ with other companies/professionals where appropriate, as a representative of Chapelfield Children’s Day Nursery.
Organisation:
· Engage in any other broadly comparable duties required by the nursery
· To pass on relevant information to assist the Directors in preparing budgets and the maintenance and control of all expenditure within nursery
· Contribute ideas and suggestions to support, develop and move the business forward through Management meetings
Learning and Development:
· Demonstrate a willingness to attend training and take opportunities for continuous professional development relevant to your role
