Typical Allocation of Duties
Provide direct student services - 50%
Provide direct services to students to provide advising and support to students in special programs; to instruct pre-admission courses and assist with student transitions; and to provide other assigned support.
Coordinate with other student support professionals - 20%
Coordinate with a variety of internal stakeholders to contribute to the success of students.
Ensure compliance - 15%
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, university system, institutional, program, and other regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
Prepare reports and maintain records - 15%
Prepare a variety of regular and special reports, including those necessary for legal and regulatory compliance. Maintain student files in compliance with FERPA guidelines.
Supervisor Expectations
- Serve as primary academic advisor for the Master of Library and Information Science program:
- provide guidance and support to prospective VSU students seeking admission
- process applicants for admission
- facilitate admission and progression for students enrolled in the Library and Information Science program
- provide student success resources and support to advisees in programs
- guide advisees in the requirements for program progression and graduation
- work with advisees and the Graduate School to process withdraws, dismissals, and readmissions
- Coordinate admission requirements for candidates entering undergraduate educator preparation programs each semester.
- Assist and guide new undergraduate teacher education admits in processing pre-service certification requests to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
- Work with other staff with similar roles in the college to develop ways to better serve the needs of our students.
- Work with assigned program’s department faculty on program recruitment and retention efforts.
- Complete professional development in order to better serve stakeholders, as applicable to the job role.
