Job Description

Position Summary

The Workforce and Economic Development Coordinator works under the direction of the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development to support college growth and expansion initiatives in career technical education program opportunities. The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and expanding business and industry opportunities by engaging area and county economic development authorities and industry leadership for all college locations and service area. The Coordinator, in collaboration with the Dean, will contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of workforce development programs, policies, and procedures for Central Alabama Community College. The Coordinator will assist the Dean with the procurement and implementation of grant funds to support economic and workforce development programs.

This position will be based in Prattville and report to the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development Programs.


SALARY SCHEDULE: E3/G3 ($43,464.00 - $59,225.00)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System and Central Alabama Community College policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the development of workforce partnerships with business, industry, government agencies, community organizations and programs.
  • Creates and conducts presentations to workforce partnerships with business, industry, government agencies, community organizations and programs.
  • Contributes to the promotion of Central Alabama Community College's workforce development programs to business, industry, government agencies, and community organizations through service on committees.
  • Develops and maintains an active customer contact database to support efficient support of local workforce needs.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development (and possibly the Dean of Instruction) in the procurement, development, implementation, and management of grant funds to support workforce and economic development programs.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development to prepare workforce development reports and presentations as required.
  • Assists in writing grants and technical proposals.
  • Manages and coordinates all traditional and non-traditional student short term educational boot camp program offerings as assigned.
  • Assists with the preparation of documents for compliance reporting to all state and federal agencies.
  • Preserves, purges, and archives files as necessary.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Public Relations to promote noncredit programs to students, the campus community, and community partners; coordinates and develops marketing themes, promotional publications, advertising, and public relations activities for department programs, in consultation with the Dean and other constituents.
  • Builds relationships across industries to align strategies and resources to benefit all partners and target populations.
  • Creates and maintains a positive image for the College.
  • Prioritizes projects and makes sure deadlines are met.
  • Serves on institutional committees and contributes to the improvement, success and sustainability of the College.
  • Maintains a professional and cooperative demeanor, as well as professional environment in support of building effective relationships through the service area community.
  • Travels to industries, businesses, and other college locations as assigned.
  • Performs any other duties related to the position as assigned by the Dean of Workforce and Economic Development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, manufacturing, logistics, community development ,or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
  • Three (3) years’ industry experience in a technical or manufacturing related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce development, education, economic development or management is required.
  • Budget management experience is required.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Ability to provide instruction related to manufacturing processes, industrial maintenance technology, logistics, or quality control is required.
  • Proficiency in robot operations and programming is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required.
  • Presentation skills is required.
  • Valid driver license is required; ability to travel is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
  • Experience in Postsecondary Education is preferred.
