Our Operations division are involved in the repair and refit of both Royal Naval and Commercial vessels. You will have the opportunity to become a part of our multiskilled team and work in our modern facilities with our state-of-the-art equipment. In this role you will be working alongside our Fabricators, and the majority of the work will be completed in various workshops throughout the dockyard.
We are looking for hardworking and punctual Individuals that are prepared to work in a team-based environment to provide a high quality service to meet our customer expectations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Proficient and experienced in the use of MMA and TIG/MIG welding processes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Basic Understanding of the operational controls of the equipment associated with the above welding process equipment
- Understanding of the quality assurance requirements associated with the control of welding e.g. weld maps/control of consumables/working to procedures
- Able to work on tasks requiring radiographic/ultrasonic examination and passing the required welder approval tests associated with the welding processes quoted above in various welding positions
- Able to understand written and oral work instructions including the use of welding procedure specifications and capable of interpreting engineering drawings showing welding symbols
- Trained in the use of handheld grinders and the changing of the abrasive wheels associated with this equipment
- Understanding of the methods to prevent welding distortion including balanced welding sequences, restraining bars, etc.
- Understanding of the basic requirements of the visual acceptance requirements for welds responsibilities in this role
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
- Ideally suitable candidates should have an understanding of health and safety regulations involving hot work and confined spaces.
- Knowledge of the health and safety risks associated with welding
Desirable
- Have experience with tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding
