Your Role
Service Line:
Cygnet employs a small, but growing number of physiotherapists, working within the specialist service lines of neuro psychiatric rehabilitation, and specialist learning disability day services. This post is within Neuro psychiatric rehabilitation based at St William’s Hospital Darlington with one day at Newham House. It is a part time post which can be worked with some flexibility, as long as the needs of the patients can be met. The post is 24 hours per week.
Summary of the site:
The neuro psychiatric rehab services are aimed at providing adults with acquired brain injuries and often associated mental health support needs to access the best possible rehabilitation, and optimise their recovery and functional independence. This role would require the practitioner to be flexible and creative with the treatment interventions required. It also requires someone who is a capable motivator to engage with the patient group to achieve the optimal results.
The staff team is made up from a Manager, a Head of Care, Registered Nurses, Support Workers, Activity Coordinators, SLT, OT, Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists and Physio.
At full capacity the service offers 13 bed places for male patients at St Williams, Newham has 22 beds for female patients and there is also a specialist physio in post. Patients are discussed by the full MDT prior to admission.
Clinical lead physio for Cygnet will actively support the successful applicant with their development into this specialist role, providing clinical supervision, support for CPD, and mentoring in line with CSP physiotherapy framework guidance. There is an active service line education and development forum with OT colleagues and many opportunities for additional training and job enrichment.
There is a good range of support and training offered from the neuro psychiatric service line, which is made up of all the Cygnet neuro psychiatric services throughout the regions, giving access to a very good range of professional expertise and experience.
Therapy Directorate
Physiotherapy is a growing profession within Cygnet, we work closely with the larger group of OT under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors. There are over 170 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team of AHPs in partnership with other disciplines including SLT and psychology. Interdisciplinary working and support is a crucial part of team working within these specialist services.
Every service line has lead therapists helping to shape and develop the clinical practice and also to assure and improve the quality of service provision and outcomes for our service users.
We ensure our clinicians are well supported and receive time for CPD, clinical supervision, and participation in service development activities.
Physiotherapy Development & Induction:
We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some of your recent clinical experiences. We are willing to offer the right package of support and development to anyone who is returning to practice after a break. We would facilitate this using the CSP Framework to ensure career development is underpinned by knowledge and skills gained through work experiences, supervision, CPD and lifelong learning.

Requirements
